I don’t recall PTV ever showing Tom and Jerry, Pink Panther, Bugs Bunny or various other cartoons that were popular with kids back when I was a kid. Up until NTM started, watching cartoons on TV was a weekly thing, rather than a daily thing.
Instead we got lame PTV kids shows. Well there were some good shows, but most of them were utter crap, especially those from Quetta and Peshawar.

I grew up in Pakistan and the only channel I had was PTV and i saw all those cartoons. May be you had load shedding at that time.

^ Ninja Turtles I reckon was aired on STN that too with Urdu dubbing. As for Captain Planet, it came on PTV long after Cartoon Network became available on satellite.

They used to come on PTV, subha kee nashriyaat with Mustansar Hussain Tarar and the female whose name I am forgetting. I used to watch em everyday while having breakfast before going to school :D
And which programs from Quetta and Peshawar? I don't recall kiddie progs from there but Quetta and Peshawar stations had some of the coolest programs otherwise.

yaar sarey cartoon dikhata tha ptv, in morning transmission and good english movies too in evening. Used to watch them at around 5 pm when the transmition used to start. first Iqra, then bachoon ke programes and kiddy stuf cartoon series, like smurfs, Transformers, Thunder Cats (orignal ) and many more.
Around 7.20 or 6.30 they used to show some comedy series like Small wonder, Full house etc
Watched loads of movies on ptv and then NTM. and many other programes.
It is now that they show crapy programes mostly

Ya i remeber PTV at its peak...good short cartoons for kiddys in the morning,i remember my school wagon used to be honking while i would be begging my mom to let me watch how bugs bunny finally tricks elmer fudd ....sigh memories :(

Indeed, bhoot bangla was such a crappy show. My memory is a bit fuzzy but I remember watching people jumping up and down on the bangla walls/balcony with a white cloak thrown over their heads. Would seem pretty racist if you watch the show again.
I forget the bangla cover-up premise, were they robbers or drug traffickers?

I think they show old cartoons on ARY now. It's so cute cause it's been translated into Urdu. I've caught a few episodes of The Three Muskateers.

Morning? Oh now I remember, but I used to be out of the house by 6:50 PM, so I never caught them.
Despite that, my point is, did it really cost PTV that much money to just show us cartoons in the evenings?

i loved watching captain planet with my cousins. it is really old most of my friends here don't remember it.

yaar they always had some kid programs in the evening(cartoons or full house). Weekends they always had some kid programs during day time. there were always atleast 3-4 english series going on at one time and they always showed one or two movies every week.
