How come Indian movies don't have sequals???

??

i think they tried a few times and failed. recently 'jewel thief' had a sequel which failed (which is understandable since none of dev anand movies has run in last 25 yrs.)

but then u have same movie made many times with different stars (how many times we have seen story of twins separated at birth or for that sake nasir husain's movies all had same story) so that is fine.

sometimes i feel sequels are a stupid idea. recently sippy's were planning a sequel for 'sholay' and i do not want to see old hema malini playing aged basanti, (for that sake none can play roles of sanjeev kumar and amjad khan both of whom are dead.)

ahh

Offf Adi Can you be so forgetful?

Most Indian Movies are copied(no freash Ideas)so if they had no Idea in the first place than how can the get one for a sequel?

Par savaal dhadho Suto ahaey!!

When the Lion is Dead, Every Assthinks it can Kick it!!!!

I think that they cram so much into a 3hr. feature that there is little left to cover later.

Personally I'd like to see a sequel to Silsila.

Most of the Indian movies beat the story to death there is nothing left to imagination... having said that will like to see sequal of "Astitva".

Hinni, same people falling in love all over again, that would be hard to digest, won't it. Just that all the movies have the same stroyline, and it will be tough to sell the same story with the same name and the cast.

On second thought, I retract, actually that would sell..

they did have a parody of sholay ..the movie was called Ram garh kay sholay and it starred look alikes of amitabh and anil kapoor and someone else. It was funny as hell.

Oh man !! I didnt know anyone else saw that movie – yeah it was pretty good. Its surprising why they dont make many parodies – Hindi movies are just perfect for parodies

mumbai chokray man indian movies are parodies anyways well majority of them, there are some gems there, like guide, sholay, hehe and one of my all time favs do aur do panch and naseeb etc, aatish possibly..but most are kinda parody-ish themselves..parody of a parody may end up being a serious flick

i would love to see a sequel to 'sharabi',
'sholay' or 'dewar'. i guess it wasn't popular even in hollywood to make sequels two decades ago and now bollywood films are too crapy to even see once yet a sequel.

Who said they don't ?
You are talking of Hindi movies.
We had a sequel for a movie in Telugu.
The first one is called 'Money' and the second one 'Money Money'.
They were both funny .They were directed by an associate of Ram Gopal Verma.(He is from Andhra. He is the guy who directed 'Rangeela')

I can think of remember NAGINA where Sri Devi was a nagin. They came out with part two where her daughter again played by sri Devi is also a nagin. I think the second part was called Nigahin and since Amrish Puri dies in the first part they show Anu Pankher as the new Sapera...

Hindi movies to some extent have sequels. Aditya Chopra himself said that MOHABBATEIN is the sequel to DDLJ. The story starts from the same Train station where Raj and Simran leave.

As for Sholay. I remember Amir Khan saying that Mela was the sequel to sholay. Sort of the same story, different charecters....
