Arab ditches teen wife; held in city

Hyderabad, May 25: A high-flying Arab “grandpa” landed in the city, married a teenaged girl, spent two days and nights with her, and deserted her to pick up another nubile bride. Chandrayanagutta Police, however spoilt his plans. They arrested Mohammed Jaffar Yaqoob Hasan Al Jorani, 73, a native of Khajamia near Sharjah in the UAE, on Tuesday and stopped him from marrying for the sixth time.

Police also nabbed the “broker,” Shamsuddin, 45, a resident of Balapur Road who helped Al Jorani find the bride. “We busted an Arab marriage racket and hunt is on for more such brokers,” Sub-Inspector T Sudhakar told Deccan Chronicle. Police swung into action after the girl, Haseena Begum, daughter of Shaik Mahboob, lodged a complaint alleging that Al Jorani ditched her after spending two days with her.

“Shamsuddin approached our family members with the marriage proposal,” Haseena told Chronicle. “They offered a dowry of Rs 10,000. My father, a retired government employee, accepted the proposal and we got married on May 7 in 2004. For two days everything went on well. After that he told me that his ‘work’ was over and he was going back.”

Haseena said her family then enquired about his credentials and learned that he had already married and ditched five girls. She added that Shamsuddin had been harassing her, asking her to return the dowry money. Sub-inspector Sudhakar said that police had arrested the Arab for cheating the girl. “He is a rich man and owns huge properties in the UAE,” said the police officer. “He has been regularly flying to Hyderabad and marrying girls. He has two wives, Abeda, 60, and Alia, 40, in the UAE”.

I don't agree with this at all, but police doesn't seem to have a strong case against him. >>Police swung into action after the girl, Haseena Begum, daughter of Shaik Mahboob, lodged a complaint alleging that Al Jorani ditched her after spending two days with her<< This couldn't have been enough to arrest him, he never said that he wont be back, or so he can claim. Khair.

They offered a dowry of Rs 10,000. My father, a retired government employee, accepted the proposal and we got married on May 7 in 2004.<< She should have her father arrested as well for cheating. He married her off to a 73 year old, thinking what? Zaroorat bohut kuch karwati hai insaan se.

What is wrong with this kind of people?<<

Her father or husband? Both are needy, one needs money the other fresh meat. One lacks morals the other options.

Whom to blame?<<

We could start blaming God for putting ppl through such miseries, lekin that wont help much. Their options are limited, everything has a price so if you're offered 10000, you'd most probably take it, considering yourself lucky for not having to pay dowry money etc.

Give a reasonable solution to resolve without communal riots<<

There's no room for communal riots, unless someone puts extra masala on the story. Long term solution is to work for their betterment in general, so that they don't have to 'sell' they daughters for 10000. Create more jobs and better schooling options etc.

I want to thank you for your response,
But I will not agree
When you look at the problem openly as "needs" can’t help it,
And blame on God for low in understanding of life.
Long term solution is good ,Proving the job and better school and also
Long term you should also consider changing the Philosophy, attitude,
Thinking and way of life.

:) Okay then what do you think is the problem, and whom would you like to blame for the situation?

Philosophy and attitude are big words, they don't make much sense on an empty stomach.

I am talking about log term and if you read the news: about farmers committing suicide. To keep up with high values people committing suicide. Its not west, people do anything for materialist things. These are people of east with high morals, self-esteem and Cultural values. This is the country surveyor from great famine and never asked for help. Its not new starvation and empty stomach this part of the world. I see people eating monkeys and squirrels but they are not selling their kids for no moral values. (I even seen people eating dead bodies on TV but they have Philosophy of living.) There are so many examples so many ways to stop starving. Correct me if I am wrong; these people have strong feeling towards these foreigners and believe they can show the light to other side. (And there could be some good examples from their side too.)

I'm sorry I don't think that I got your point.

Its not west, people do anything for materialist things<<

Yeh kahan se aa gaya beech meiN? West doesn't have much to do with this story, its our problem.

So again, what were you saying?

I am talking about moral values….

“To keep up with high moral values people are committing suicide. Its not west, people do anything for materialist things. These are people of east with high morals, self-esteem and Cultural values.” (May be I watch to many western talk shows)

I am talking about empty stomachs and starving…

I see people eating monkeys and squirrels but they are not selling their kids for no moral values. (I even seen people eating dead bodies on TV but they have Philosophy of living.) I am taking about the way mindset…

“Correct me if I am wrong; these people have strong feeling towards these foreigners and believe they can show the light to other side. (And there could be some good examples from their side too.)”

My point: What program can help them change their mind and belifes?

Graces.
