Okay, there are some desi moms who actually warn their sons from marrying any girl from outside as they say ‘baahir ki ladkiyan kharab hoti hani’ & advise them to accept the girls those moms themselves choose for their sons. Now, how can these moms be so sure about it that the girls they select for their sons, they are not kharab!?

They cannot be ever sure of any girl. Its just that selecting a girl themselves gives them some satisfaction. But I know of a girl who selected by a guy's mom and she had an affair with her class fellow for whole 3 years and the whole uni knew about her affair. It was certain that they will be marrying but things did not materialise for them. She was then liked by a guy's mother who thought her as a good shareef girl without any kharab past as she belonged to a good religious family and she was married off to that guy.
So no one can be sure of the sahi or kharab of any girl. If the girl is chosen by the mom, she thinks her as most pious girl in the world. Similarly, if the girl is chosen by the guy himself, he thinks her to be the most 'shareef' girl in the world ;)

True! Even I know few girls chosen by guys’ moms themselves who used to have affairs before marriage & some continue to have even after marriage So that’s why I believe such moms should stop being so judging !!

I guess moms think they have more experience than their sons in judging the girls. But I think there are many things where the new generation knows more than the older generation. We value our elders’ experience and wisdom but still the new generation is more aware of many things than they are. I guess guys are more prompt and right in judging the type of a girl whereas moms just judge girls shareef if they belong to good families. I have seen girls doing bad things while in abayas and belonging to religious and good families. So I guess that does not guarantee that the girl will necessarily be shareef.

What makes me laugh is when a family lives for example in the uk, and moms say 'only girls from back home make good wives' and only marry their sons to girls from back home.
Then they complain and moan when they can't find a decent uk son in law for their daughters.

All desi moms have built in tickers that go off when a shareef, good lucking, religious-family belonging girl passes through their radar and that's how they know. That ticker doesn't even blink in the UK.
