How can I transfer money from Pakistan to UK

Hi,

I want to transfer around 1 million PKR from Pakistan to the UK. I am currently in UK and have accounts in UBL and ABL in Pakistan and Lloyds tsb here. The money will be used for paying tuition fee. If I give my Lloyds tsb account details (IBAN, SWIFT etc) to a relative, will it be easy to get the money transfered from UBL to Lloyds? Any limit on the amount that can be transfered? any fee?

The method you’re referring to is “wire transfer.” For that, yes they would need your Iban and Swift Numbers. They’d also need the information for the receiving bank. It can take 4 to 24 hours, depending on banks release funds time frames.
For fees, you should check with the receiving bank as well as the sending bank.

Have you checked Western Union Money Transfer?

Re: How can I transfer money from Pakistan to UK

Thank you for the info.

Western Union and Money Gram are very expensive. Plus I have heard they are not very safe for large sums of money (=individual agents may not be very reliable).

Re: How can I transfer money from Pakistan to UK

if you go thru legal means, you may have to tell the banks as to where you got the funds frm...this to make sure you got the money legally!...it leaves a paper trail. money transactions around the world after 9/11 has come under severe scrutiny!

Re: How can I transfer money from Pakistan to UK

I agree with KKF. Same thing is also here if you receive/send money from arab country to any western country the bank will ask u to provide the source of income and its purpose.

Re: How can I transfer money from Pakistan to UK

Does Hundi still exist?

Re: How can I transfer money from Pakistan to UK

Yes Hundi still exist and won’t going to end

But how the user will transfer his/her mony from his/her account in pak while living in UK :hmmm:

Re: How can I transfer money from Pakistan to UK

i'm sure it does but i'll NEVER send my LEGAL money through ILLEGAL means. these types of transactions are under increased scrutiny after 9/11. the sender might get into legal trouble and could be charged with providing money to terrorist groups.

Re: How can I transfer money from Pakistan to UK

How 'hundi' wala will be counted in terrorist group?

Re: How can I transfer money from Pakistan to UK

Hundiwalas operate illegally...they can be caught anytime anywhere...i'm talking about those people who use their services...you have to do your transactions legally through banks and other legal financial institutions. any other way would constitute illegal transaction...you have to leave a paper trail where the money can be traced to the original sender...you have to show how you obtained the money legally, tell them the purpose of transaction and also provide the names and addresses of the recipients.

Re: How can I transfer money from Pakistan to UK

I'm not recommending Hundi. I was just asking if it existed.

Re: How can I transfer money from Pakistan to UK

from what i know. one 'hundi wala' sit in foreing country and another is local country. The sender gives money to foreign 'hundi wala' and he calls his fellow in local country and says to him hand-over such and such amount to this person. There is no actuall transaction.

Re: How can I transfer money from Pakistan to UK

and why u were asking about it existence?

Re: How can I transfer money from Pakistan to UK

amd, that's why it's illegal...the local Govt looses valuable foreign exchange as well. lack of any processing record constitutes illegality in the eyes of law.
