i, personally would say dont call him too often, he might not like a clingy kinda girl, and i dont mean that in a bad way, just ask him straight out men dont usually beat around the bush with their feelings!!
and as for female mates there is no reason to feel jealous if he does love u he should have a purely platonic relationship with these girls, dont worry about it everything always works out for the best, even though we dont know it sometimes.
and if he is playing around then he obviously doesnt deserve you!!

well i have to say that if you love him that much , you better should not go after knowing what he thinks about you.
what you can do , i think you should make him feel/ realize how do you love him , and what he is to you...
if you really love him , then you can make him love you.
so make him realize and do express yourself to him before its too late.

my two cents...
..dont make a fool out of yourself...don't say anything to him..if he is interested in you..he will make the first move...otherwise..you will just ruin the friendship, and will be embarassed... don't even give him hints that you are in love or whatever...just be normal. Better yet, don't call him at all...let him be the one to call.....talk to him nicely, still dont give him any hints..let him call two or three times..you will definately come to know something (good or bad) in a short time.
