How can I get these Sony Headphones to work as intended on my Samsung Galaxy S8?

I bought these Sony Headphones from ebay a week ago with the purpose of recording certain phone conversations on a needed basis.

Even though I am inserting it into my phone socket, it is not recording conversations at all Have even bought a splitter with a microphone socket but that hasn’t worked either.

Will appreciate a tech genius helping me out here

Hm.. I dont have Samsung galaxy, neither sony headphones. Lets see what other techies say.

I dont know much about it since on first glance, they do seem like the regular headphones but this is what caught my attention.

Plug: 3.5mm mono mini plug

Most of the 3.5mm are stereo. Have you tried any other headphones in this phone before? Also, have you tried plugging these into any other device like a computer or another phone?

Are you talking about phone conversations? You would probably need a call recording software unless if you are using skype or google voice.
