I bleached my hair about two months ago. A full head of bleach and then dyed it to get the hair colour that I actually wanted. It didn’t do much damage to my hair. Even made my hair a little thicker but a little dry but nothing that can be cured with a little intensive hair cream. But I’m not advising you to bleach your hair.

Get a hair colour like blonde and it will make your hair lighter. Just don’t choose a really light blonde or your hair will go ginger.

Thing is, I don’t know if it’ll get lighter because I dyed my hair jet black a couple of months ago. Shortly after that, I used a dark ash blonde color on my hair and it did nothing that’s why bleaching seems like the only solution.
