Well it’s that time of the year and the streets of London are lined with the first crop of Pakistani mangoes (well southall at least) of course having to introduce the little one to the delicacies of this famed fruit we bought a box, I undressed her sat her in her bath and gave her a slice.
The results were astonishing, as if the little one had been doing it all her life, before I had a chance to call the wife to take a look she had smeared the fruit all over her chest, arms, legs and hands and began licking it off.
It’s the way mangoes have been eaten in my family for generations, I’m so proud of her.
Naturally I also got in my bath and began the summer ritual.

The misses was a little puzzled and disgusted, but that was because she didn’t get the gitak.
hmmm, i think the best way to eat mangoes is to eat them desi style, cut them up in long slices along with the peel and then just eat them like that…
a convenient but not so fun methos is to peel them and then cut the flesh into cubes and eat that with a fork…lekin this is just too angrayze a way to eat it!
My brother in law squeezes a mango all around I guess to soften it, then he peels it with his fingers and eats it whole w/o slicing it he’s an ajeeb one.
50-B, I used to do the same thing. I would squeeze the mangoes till they were all soft and mushy inside, then drink the juice without peeling all the skin off. It was fun to eat mangoes like this when I was a kid but now, it’s just too messy. I just slice them now and have floss handy.
Thap, that is a very cute story about your baby.
The mangoes that are mostly sold here are from Mexico or California and believe me, they aren’t as yummy.
In our family everyone squeezes it till all the flesh goes all mushy and then make a little hole and suck it out through that, I prefer it in slices biting into the solid flesh.
I once had mango puree in a pint glass from one of those dirty roadside shops in Chanyot, it had flies buzzing all around it but it tasted better than any drink I've tasted.

Yes the squeeze and suck is another favourite, especially after they've been in the fridge for a bit.
The realy way to eat a mango is the most messiest way that you can imagine, for further accentuation - the soft (pilpila) squeeze mango rules, and the devourer should have juice dripping from their elbows and a mouth outline splattered with mango pulp,
Any other style of mango eating is a waste of mango.
So - what kind of mangoes do you people really dig, personally - I like langrda, chaunsa and anveretole found in Pakiland. It seems as if they are shipped from heaven.
how u eat the mango depends on the tpe of mango, one should not squeze and suck the jice from sindhi aam lakin the langary and the anwar wat ever taste nice with the squeze and suck strategy.
PS thapo u r so cute
PPS i had my first shipment of mangoes this week from southall
I missed another photo op, we were at some friends house for a bbq and they have a little one a couple of months older than ours. We stripped 'em both down to their nappies and gave them an amb each pretty much, ours knew she was in a competition and without any screams or tantrums usually involved with eating, ate hers up real quick and quite.
