Re: How belief get Weak
nice. That reminds me a verse where these words are used “deaf, dumb and blind will not return”.

riyazet - pratice mujhahida - struggle mesghol - busy
If i understand correctly than that the meanings of arabic words. So repeatedly pratice, struggle for betterness, and busy in overcoming to our temptation i could understand :)
I agree with this
Initially we have to struggle a little. Then being good and doing good becomes our first nature
For instance, lets say a person, for some emotional reasons, has a habit of eating alot. He eats uncontrollably, he eats like there is no tomorrow. When that person wants to reform himself (he wants to follow his body rhythms and eat only when hungry, and not get consumed by food), first few weeks he will struggle. He will have good days and bad days, he will have serious setbacks, he will even cry and give up. But when he is persistant and he makes up his mind, then slowly he will achieve the state of normalcy. He will look at food and say, it's food .. it's a blessing, but its not my reason to live, it does not define me.
Similarly when we keep making efforts, there comes a point very soon, when thats all we know and thats all we do, and thats all we see everywhere.
Thats one way of how Faith works
Re: How belief get Weak
Yes taqwa has many meanings - but it is a faculty of belief that taqwa stems from ... It is jsut important to distinguish faith by talking about taqwa separately from imaan ...
Care to explain Mr. Psyah;
In your words "it is a faculty of belief that taqwa stems from"
Conviction is "belief" if Taqwa stems out from belief then how it can get weak and conviction can never?
^ Was thinking the same thing. I have always been under the impression that 'conviction/belief' = 'taqwa'.

But when there is no other way to control his emotions, he will go back to eating too much food.
It can be the opposite way too, he can be really good the first few days, but than he doesn't know how to control his emotions, so he goes back to food. It doesn't necessarily mean food is his comfort, maybe after eating the food he can feel really terrible about why he did that to himself. What should he do than? This can be never ending process for some people who suffer with faith. Sometimes there's no where to go for comfort, so you go back to your old bad habits which might or might not have direct consequences.
