this is so disturbing … O-level and A-level educated guy and yet so radicalized? this problem is far more complex than our thoughts. it is not limited to madrasas only.

Re: How a student of elite institutions turned to terrorism?
All were inspired by hateful speaches of Dr. Israr Ahmed.
Re: How a student of elite institutions turned to terrorism?
Brilliant minds are becoming radicalised. A liberal student (educated at beaconhouse and IBA) was transformed into a cold-blooded murderer in just a matter of 2 to 3 years!!
**
TELLING STAT: In all these stories of radicalisation, the common denominator or brainwashing tool is a Jamaat-e-Islami infiltrator!!! **((& IK is in cahoots with JI, one of the most regressive parties in the country (Mullah Diesel is even worse)). I call a spade a spade
We all know about the badmaashi of jamaati goons at university and medical college campuses across the country in the 80s and 90s (probably still happening now but on a lesser scale).
Proof that education alone is not enough. The rise in extremism is a failure of our elite educational institutions as well (not just madrassas). It is a parental failure too. Hence good upbringing by parents and having a good circle of liberal/progressive and tolerant friends is so important. Yes Saad Aziz was 20 plus then but it seems that his parents had no control over his movements!!
And truth be told ALL extremism emanated from Afghanistan via KPK and they have corrupted minds in Punjab and Karachi as well (Altaf maybe wrong on many fronts but he was right all along about the infiltration of Karachi by TTP and their ilk. He has been crying about this for years).
Since the start of Operation Zarb-e-Azab in FATA, terrorist attacks have without a shadow of doubt, greatly subsided inside Pakistan; IK was so wrong on this as well..
My sincere advice to everyone: ALWAYS stay away from conservative mullah-type people. If we must do jihad it must surely be against poverty, corruption, nepotism, illiteracy, narrow-mindedness and bigotry or growing intolerance in our society.

This is both ways - Tanzeem e Islami - Dr Israr Ahmed and others are from this side of the borders.

well said. all political parties including imran khan have a role to play in escalating radicalization except maybe mqm and anp who have taken stand against animals of ttp from the beginning. the biggest reason i stopped supporting imran khan was his support for ttp one way or the other. his intentions may be right but unintentionally he divided the nation on this topic for so long and did not let create union among masses against these animals. there is a reason why these animals nominated imran khan to negotiate on their behalf with the govt. the history will never forgive imran khan's dark and unfortunate role on this topic
and the sad part is that pti and its followers were ideologically against TTP but they simply couldn't resist against imran khan and just kept quiet and hence became part of the sad saga. very sad indeed.
