Hopefully i wud b resignin frm my current employer in a couple of dayz :insha: ab it’s not like dat i hvn’t eva resigned earlier or it needz sum rocket science 2 resign. it’s just dat k da situation is a lil different then da previous 1z
1st i had been wid da firm since 99 n dat’s a looooooooong time period na n secondly i came here @ n entry level job but now working s a senior manager, i hv really learnt a lot frm da place but seemz like it’s time 2 move on :).
frm earlier placez i jus used 2 give my resignation letter 2 da HR ppl, tx ma seniorz, collect my duez n walk away frm da office but yahan pay i hv 2 1st hv a meeting wid da Executive In-Charge of da division, tell him abt my decision which is not goin 2 make him happy 4 sure, then he’ll b sending the request 2 HR department provided he approves it 1st, then da Excutive Committee wud b takin an intwerview of mine askin reasonz y in da world i wanna leave such a growing firm like theirz then there wud b da notice period of around a month n then finally i wud b out :insha: if all of tis happened accordingly which i doubt na
i dun think so k my firm will release m so ezly; they r goin 2 b very reluctant 4 da approval n i really dun wanna make any mess till i m here, being in a smaller market ur repo reachez b4 u. soooo how shud i b behaving during dat much time period in office. The mngmnt definitely wud b tryin there level best 2 make m stay ova here which is not possible; another collegue had 2 send a lawyer notice 2 get da release frm da firm when they straight forwardly refused 2 release him. i dun think so i can do dat much but i surely try dat my message of not stayin here any more @ any cost reaches 2 da management clearly.
soooooooo how shud i go abt it???
hmmm…when u gotta leave u gotta leave and they cant stop u yaar unless they really make some package changes…? just communicate with them nicely at all times…very lightly, dont get emotional or frustrated at any point… deal with things coolly and logically and good naturedly..they cant stop u if u have decided, but just try to make it pleasant…thats all i can say…
seema: whatever irem said…do that, but always keep in mind that you need to be VERY firm in communicating your decision i.e. ‘to quit’ at all times.
Please be very candid and clear in announcing that…and do not give the impression that any potential counter-offers which your employer may conjure, are going to make you stay at your current place. Giving mixed signals may not only confuse your current employer, but also make it difficult for you to really quit. I hope it helps
where are you moving to btw…best of luck though :k:
Seems like a tedious process. Whenever I have resigned, the company has usually known my intentions for months. Except the few occasions where I walked out on the first day of job during lunch and never went back.
I would agree with what irem said here. Be polite, take the necessary steps. You want good recommendations in the future.
That’s how I usually do it I aint working at no more stinkin call centers j/k
Seema, the thing I see folks mess up on is trying to be too nice. Don’t think that you’re hurting anyone’s feelings by separating, it’s business. Now that doesn’t mean you have to be a jerk about it, but be firm and upfront. It’s really annoying when someone is shy about leaving and doesn’t want to make clear what it is they’re doing.. that could (and has) lead to confusion, which is more trouble for the employer than simply losing a good employee.
PS.. praise the company and your coworkers in your separation interview, just not too mushy.. it’s good for the recommendations
hehe. Well the reason I left those jobs were because I didnt like the unfriendly environment. I have to feel comfortable working there or I just wont do as good a job.
Asif2000, I PMed you the details of some of the jobs I walked out on. I am assuming you wanted to know. If you didnt, OoPs! smile
First convince yourself why you actually want to leave. Then figure out some good reasons for leaving that will make sense to your present employer. And then stick with that story! :k:
If its money, or better career growth or shaadi etc… just have a plausable story ready.
Anyway… ideally, you will want to leave in good terms so you can come back if you want to, or in any case, use them as a reference source in the future. So, as much as possible, try to leave on a nice note.
