Yeah, I got a message from Shikra & family. They are evacuating. Hope everything goes well for them and everyone else.

What:eek: there are orders for evacuation…I just thought its going to be like Gustav!
Gustav didn’t do anything to Houston because it landed close to New Orleans. However, Ike is going to land close to Galveston and come straight to North (Houston) and keep going North (Dallas) but by the time it reaches Dallas, it will be a tropical storm and won’t have the same force of winds.

May Allal protect people in the path of the storm. I was reading about it on CNN and its supposed to be a big monster of a storm....weathermen predicting "certain death" is inevitable for people who choose not to evacuate where evactuations are mandatory.

Houstan still has power and winds are now picking up. Galvenstone has waves going over it's 17 foot seawalls, it's 40 miles off the coast at will land in about an hour and a half.
IKE already has hit Houston in middle! From the above stream it seems to be a severe attack at Houston!

2.9 million people r without any power now. From what I read seems like its not coming back till Monday.
Its bigger that Rita and people are not evacuating in Houston. I don't understand.
Probably people learnt some lesson about how long it took to go from Houston to Dallas (around 10-14 hours) while paying $5-8 per gallon when they ran out of gas.

Most areas of Houston, including downtown, are still out of power and are running on generators. Water pressure is back to normal now. Some areas, including my place, still do not have power. Not sure how much longer it'll take before the power comes back up. Of course then there's also shortage of gas, food, and other essential supplies there. Trees are still down in some areas and traffic lights are either hanging upside down or simply broken off. It'll be some time before power is restored in all areas but they are working on it. Houston will be under nightly curfew until Saturday.
I got power and internet this evening. Things seems ok in my side (NW). Still see trees fallen down and poles on the ground. Some neighborhoods still don't have power.
Those were some mean winds.
