Houston-San Antonio-Austin-Dallas

I need to know the places or landmarks to see in these cities of Texas. I will be in San Antonio mainly for three days and then I will have one day in Houston and one in Dallas.

I am coming from Canada, so I don’t need to goto Desi PaRas.

Re: Houston-San Antonio-Austin-Dallas

Kennedy Space Centre in houston. You might need a whole day for that though.

Re: Houston-San Antonio-Austin-Dallas

umm downtown dallas is pretty boring wid sum tall buildings..nuthing worth watching unless u want to check out Galleria Mall ..which is btw pretty awesome especially in this holiday season its all decorated!

I dont know what else should i recommend..dallas is not an attractive tourist place..!
But u might wanna check out the city of plano----its pretty AwesOME!lol

Re: Houston-San Antonio-Austin-Dallas

First of all thanks for the reply.

what is so awesome about the great city of plano? I did google on it and couldn't find any reason to visit this city. Every other city in Texas ofcourse has a history of 100-200 years, but I want to know what is AWESOME about it. Please elaborate so I can think of going there. Be specific if you can.

Re: Houston-San Antonio-Austin-Dallas

Dallas sucks. If you happen to be close to Ft Worth, then drop by the Stockyards..you will get a flavor for how Texans used to live in the 19th century.

There is the river walk in San Antonio. Very nice and relaxing. Good restaurants and architecture. Don't forget to take the river tour.

Re: Houston-San Antonio-Austin-Dallas

Thanks Fungie. That sounds interesting, atleast you gave explaination why should one go to a place that you recommend. A change from ‘AWESOME’ statments.

:k:

Re: Houston-San Antonio-Austin-Dallas

You seem to be a man of good taste. If you are into Rodeo (bull fights) then check out the rodeo schedule in and around DFW. There is one in Mesquite and one near the Stockyards in Ft Worth.

Re: Houston-San Antonio-Austin-Dallas

plano is a dull boring suburb with strip malls...thats what its all about. its a generic burb, the kind that can be find in any city

Re: Houston-San Antonio-Austin-Dallas

Fraudz, have you been to Shops at Legacy in Plano? How about the hot Air Balloon Festival and ride? Have you been to its theter district? the only broadway type shows in a suburban city! Aik dafa haath lagaa ker kiyaa aagaye, Plano Expert bun gayee.

Re: Houston-San Antonio-Austin-Dallas

^^Yeah the shops at Legacy r so beautifuully decorated and all the malls here r huge and elegant!
smooth-guy--- i just told u plano is "awesome" cuz thats the only place that im aquainted wid in dallas..i just moved here 2 yrs ago..and i personally think plano is a great city..mayb not as an tourist attraction! I was just kinda kidding cuz i live here! If u think its not worth watching..its awrite.

Re: Houston-San Antonio-Austin-Dallas

Oh I just notice that you live there. But if you would have provided a little detail (beside jokes) of attraction as Fungie did, it would have made me stop by there, since it will be in my way. I am all for beautiful cities (historic sites and traditional decors) so if Stockyard or any other city is offering a cultural trailor of Texas, I will definetely go there. I don't believe in spending vactions in cities of concrete and glass, unless I am visiting a relative there.

Re: Houston-San Antonio-Austin-Dallas

I went like this: Houston-Corpus Christi-North Padre-South Padre-Corpus Christi-San Antonio-Austin-Houston.

Between Houston and Corpus Christi on HW59 , there is a small historic city called Victoria. There are beautiful camping areas by a fishing lake there. Plenty of exotic animals there. One of the main streets was full of beautiful old architecture houses.

San Antonio: River Walk and the Alamo; Six Flags & Water World if you have kids. Natural Bridge caverns (underground cave system with an underground river) just outside of the city.

One hour from Houston is Galveston; a barrier reef island on the Gulf of Mexico. There is rain forest replica created inside a huge glass hall. If you are interested in planes, there is a big aviation museum there as well.
I don't know about others, but for me, the main artery of Houston is the Westheimer. You can find anything and everything there. Off Westheimer, is Hilcroft which has plenty of desi shops and resturants. Close to the crossing between Westheimer and I10 is the Houston's "prestigious" Galleria mall. I used to live close by on the Sage.

Re: Houston-San Antonio-Austin-Dallas

shouldn't miss the River Walk in San Antonio

shouldn't go to the Galvestan Beach in Houston. its a farigh beach with nothing but dirty water.

Plano in Dallas has a very nice open mall. should go

texas overall is a little boring - am sorry to say that but yes, it is.
thats what I found in a few days of my tour last week.
