Household Things

I have many silk suits that i don’t want to wear. Previously, i have donated them to charities or have given them to a cousin. I am not into selling either. This time i want to put them to some use around the house.

My mom used to make those big pillows (gao takiya) with old clothes. I can make some table covers by joining some different clothes. What else i can do to beautify the house and put the clothing to some use?

Re: Household Things

Khumar, thanks for the great ideas. Thinking along the lines cushion covers will be something interesting as well.

Mirch, haha.

please dont make pillowcases out of shalwars, something is just not kosher about that idea.

Ahaaa, good thought.

Re: Household Things

You could make fragranced pomanders for the wardrobes......

I have in the past made organiser caddies for delicate jewellery etc - by sewing a good hanger into the design it was great for hanging in the wardrobe

What about making a patchwork quilt - imagine the colours....

Or even a bug abstract wall hanging which you could put up in a frame? (One of those framelss things)

Little evening bags are also a good idea?
Mobile phone cover? Ipod Cover?

Re: Household Things

on my last trip to Pakistan, I bought these really nifty bags/batwas, made from fabric, it was all the rage. if one is good with the needle, i’m sure they are not too hard to make and fun to design!
