Although its just been six months or more Ive been in London, but im sort of already getting bored of doing the same chores all the time. Its like I cleam one room and the other gets messed up till then, its like i just wash the dishes and they are up again, its like as much laundry i do as much is left, & the likes. Surprisingly, its just the two of us and he helps me around a lot but Im getting bored of doing this all the time. We go out, we have fun, i change my routine, i sometimes leave stuff as is because I don’t feel like doing it but i know i have to do it and the mess is just driving me crazy mostly.
How do you not get bored or sick and tired of doing these things everyday? Is there any way i can make myself enjoy cleaning, cooking, washing etc.? To be honest, i still love cleaning. Cleaning rooms, clearing the mess etc. but doing the dishes has become such an annoying chore for me that i can’t even tell. Yes! I could get a dishwasher anytime but right now there are space constraints so can’t really get one right away. Cooking is just a thing I HAVE to do, i want to enjoy cooking. I want to take it up as a challenge or an art or something but im just not into it much.
Why am I getting tired of it all, please help me enjoy it energetically?
Explains the life of a house wife. We don’t have servants here so have to do everything yourself doesn’t matter if you repeat the process of washing dishes 5 times a day, lol.
I was like you, and i believe still am.
But just don’t do everything the same day, cook different things. I get bored when i cook same desi salan everyday. So may be desi one day then chinese, continental etc.
laundry is fun and since its only two of you, shouldnt be much to do!
And yes May be t.v or music while doing things. You wont know and everything will be done in no time, i usually switch on tv my fav prog while working. Ofcourse we have days when we feel like doing nothing, which is totally acceptable…So you should just chill, relax and have fun!
listen to podcasts, get on phone or skype with pals while doing the stuff.
for dishes, get a countertop dishwasher i suppose
for pots and pans wash right after eating, while you catch up on the day and chat with your husband etc
multitasking with these routine things is key.
just tonight, before we ate, the kids set the table, begum got the food out and served, I unloaded the dishwasher.
after we ate, everyone put their plates in the dishwasher, as begum put away the food and washed pots and pans, I cleaned the dining table with kids and vacuumed the floor. while we caught up on our day, talk about this or that and chat with kids.
everything got done, and nothing felt like a chore.
I hate chores but can’t stand the consequences if I neglect them. Been doing it for years and I still hate it. Mom used to tell me ki aadat ho jai gi but it didn’t happen. I just try to do everything I don’t like as fast as I can and never let anything pile up too much, for example I fold the laundry as soon as its out of the dryer or else I will never do it :). Having kids help motivate me to do all these things too because if I don’t chaos will take over my home rather quickly. I’m motivated by the fear of things like having no clean underwear for my kids to wear to school. Talking on the phone helps but it just slows me down.
I always play music or tv in the background. Sometimes I’ve attended calls simultaneously too. But still washing dishes is sort of a boring chore for me.
I like washing dishes more than other chores. I never have a sink full of dirty dishes, which is probably why…if you just have a few dishes to wash at a time it goes by quick. If i’m cooking, i continue to wash any dishes i’ve used during the process. So by the time i’m done…i only have one pot to wash.
I never have time to get bored doing household chores. With a full time job and two pets to look after I barely have time to do them in the first place.
when I’m not in the mood to do stuff…or just plain feeling lazy…I put on a movie or a tv show and use the commercials as short bursts of activity.
I do only as much as can be accomplished during the commercial…wash a few dishes…sweep the floor…put laundry in machine…fold clothes while watching tv and put away during break…
this way I get quite a bit done and it doesn’t feel like I spent any time at all doing it…just feels like I was watching tv.
