I had to follow all those rules until i started college..
First i was suppose to be home by 3:00pm now i leave home at 6:00am and get back around 9:30 pm
No no it is just tat college is far and i have late classes
but still sometimes i do go out like movies, shopping and stuff with friends during tat time.. ofcourse my letting my parents know.. I don’t have to ask for permission since they mostly say “you are old enough to make your own decision” but still about cleaning and stuff have to listen to my mom all the time

i only have one rule. no boys interaction other wise on school days i am outside till 10 and weekends till 1. and no pathetic rule as shoes etc.i have very little rules

omggggggg my mum done the EXACT same thing tooooo!

omdzzzz she hid it and wen i asked she goes “i dnt know where u put ur stuff but in the end u blame me” i was like

my rules frm mummay -

no music whatsoever now (i disagree and have headphones )
go out with frends but there must be ATLEAST 3 other muslim friends
be home before maghrib EVERYDAY
if ur stayin after school or goin somewhere after school she must b notified or the police will be searchin for me
ALWAYS get good marks or say bye to ur ipod phone and computer
only use the straightener on special occasions (this is one of her new ones since she thinks ima burn my hair )
when ur goin shoppin make sure ur fone is switched ON all the time

i think i abide by these rules pretty well

but then again my mum is cool with rules like this

i feel so sorry for you guys especially sara516 it must suck to live that life. my parents want me to have guys friends because they think i will be working with them through out my life so i need to understand them. my parents trust me and i love them for that

^ Did I tell you that they made me take self-defense Karate classes? I’m a freaking BLACK BELT! They made me take those classes so I could defend myself, so what’s with all the rules?! I’m not a baby, I’m a smart kid, I know my limits and I won’t go out doing dumb stuff!

5abi - Okay so basically what you’re saying is that my parents have these rules set for me so I won’t be annoying and flood? Okay, you make sense.

Phati..i agree with 5abi and ehsan.

Phati..when u get older and perhaps even have kids of your own inshAllah…you’ll understand why they set up these rules. The rules are there to protect you from this cruel world we live in. By the time you go to college…they will ease up on you just a tad bit.

I went through exactly what you are going through…in fact I STILL have certain rules to follow You know how the saying goes…“as long as you live under my roof…you’ll abide by my rules”? well yea she says that to me!! I think its her way of convincing me to get married

btw im a black belt 2…runs in the family eh? haiye faiyyyyye

Everyone is a grown up in my house, yet we have almost the same rules as you have. All of us have gotten so used to them that it doesn't bother us anymore. Or atleast they don't bother me. You can't have a sleepover at your friend's if you have school the next day..we didnt have sleepovers AT ALL, no excuses! Hanging out with amrikan friends is still frowned upon.
And, believe it or not, now that i m older, i am glad my parents were that strict and they made us do all those things. Otherwise, i not have been what i m today..
I think i m going to be even more strict when it would come to parenting. Our time was a little bit different than today..so i gotta be more cautious. My kids are gonna LOVE me :)

hmm well I think I’ll be a bit more liberal than my parents…but yea I guess I’m kinda glad they put so many restrictions on me because I know some kids whose parents aren’t so strict and, well, they’re not good people.
