Hotmail to Gmail.

I want one place to where all my mail is delivered!

Gmail has this facility where you it can pull messages from other inboxes…i tried get my hotmail stuff to go to gmail but no success!

Anyone get this to work?

Re: Hotmail to Gmail.

Isn't it possible only for IMAP/POP3 to get mail from? I dont think u can do it for hotmail, since it doesn't run POP3 or IMAP (not on free one at least).

Re: Hotmail to Gmail.

Damn

Re: Hotmail to Gmail.

You can do it the other way around tho as gmail provides that service (POP3) and have all your emails go to hotmail. :)

Re: Hotmail to Gmail.

hotmail sucks thou!

Re: Hotmail to Gmail.

I basically use hotmail for anyone who wants to send me spam

Hotmail is total garbage.

Gmail is much more clean, smooth and faster

Re: Hotmail to Gmail.

agree

Re: Hotmail to Gmail.

I like hotmail becuase I can set a filter to exclusive, which sends every e-mail to Junk folder except messages from those which are in my Contacts.
I don't know if Yahoo and Gmail has this feature.

Re: Hotmail to Gmail.

I get this from hotmail FAQs.
“E-mail services that use Secure POP (Also known as SSL POP3: Secure Socket Layer (SSL). SSL uses a specialized encryption method to help ensure secure communication over the Internet. POP3, or Post Office Protocol 3, is a protocol that’s used to retrieve e-mail from a mail server. With SSL POP3, the information that’s transmitted by using the POP3 protocol is directed through a layer of encryption named the Secure Socket Layer (SSL).) , such as Gmail, are not currently supported.”

Re: Hotmail to Gmail.

One way is to slowly transition from hotmail to gmail while keeping your contacts. YOu can do that using various methods:

Put REPLY TO address in your hotmail and any emails you REPLY to would come to your gmail
Gather up your contacts in hotmail and send an email from hotmail and / or gmail and let them know about the new account and change in address.
Put up an automated reply (not the best method) to your hotmail letting people know that you have changed your email account and you will NOT be replying back to them. And make a note that if it is something important, people need to contact you by other means and get the proper address.
if you have a contact list on hotmail, you should be able to import that into outlook / outlook express via hotmail and/or windows live email client and then use that to send the emails out or import that into gmail.

I hope this helps.

Re: Hotmail to Gmail.

Okay, here what I can suggest you, dont know if its gonna work or if its worth. Configure your Outlook (not Express) with freepops to download all messages from inbox of your hotmail.

Before you actually download any messages, setup an Outlook rule to forward all incoming messages to your Gmail (most probably using your ISP’s SMTP).

Now start downloading your messages from Hotmail. The Outlook rule will send all the downloaded messages to Gmail.

Good luck.
