hotels in islamabad /rawalpindi area

i’m going to pakistan in December 2005/Jan 2006. I’m going to be in the Islamabad/Rawalpindi area from December 30th to Jan 3rd or 4th. Can you please reccomend any good hotels in the area and if so your experiences in the hotels, were they good, average, any info would be helpful

Re: hotels in islamabad /rawalpindi area

I've never really experineced many hotels in Islamabad, since i lived there, but there are quite a few decent ones. Before going any further though, it would be nice if you provide us with some more information, like whats your budget, preference for location etc.

Re: hotels in islamabad /rawalpindi area

budget is not a problem, location islamabad or rawalpindi

Re: hotels in islamabad /rawalpindi area

well if budget is not a problem, then you have 3 five stars to choose from, marriot (good but i don't like the food), serena or holiday inn.... And they are a lot cheaper than the UK or the US

Re: hotels in islamabad /rawalpindi area

Serena is the best so far, mainly because its new... In Pindi, its PC

Re: hotels in islamabad /rawalpindi area

Well, the term 5 five stars is used quite loosely here. Eventhough there isn't any official standard as to how a hotel is ranked, i think all those hotels would be something along the lines of 3 stars at best. But rest assured, they are by far the best hotels in Islamabad.

As i said earlier, i've never really lived in any of those hotels but according to my knowledge, i think Marriott would be a better fit, simply because its closer to the centre of the city and not right in the middle of it. Holiday Inn, eventhough an excellent hotel from the inside and has nice service aswell (my sister's wedding also took place in this hotel) is right in the middle of sector G-6, which is quite a hectic area to say the least (by Islamabad's standards anyways). Serena is probably the best hotel out of all three, actually most definitely is, i personally don't like its location. Seems too far away from Islamabad.

My choice would definitely be Marriott.

Re: hotels in islamabad /rawalpindi area

I have stayed 3/4 times in Pindi PC ....& was not impressed by it all.....Islamabad Marriott was good but i have heard Serena is a better one....Besides there are a hell lot of Motels & Guest Houses in Islamabad,i always like them being cheap but almost close to the same standards...

Re: hotels in islamabad /rawalpindi area

judging from your replies it will have to be marriott as its closer to the centre of Islamabad and good service.

thanks for all of your input.

Re: hotels in islamabad /rawalpindi area

Has anyone stayed at the ** Envoy Continental **? if so what is the service and standard like? Also was the room rate per night reasonable?

Btw have you ever seen the five stars in UK???? I used to hate the marriot, Islamabad when I was in Pk coz I thought It was pathetic, one look at the five stars here and I changed my views (oh but somebody told me that compared to the 5 stars in Dubai our 5 stars are khokas)

Re: hotels in islamabad /rawalpindi area

I had my wedding reception at Margalla Motel (in isb) and stayed there for a few days after the wedding...its a nice hotel...(dont know why they call it a motel...)..i think its close to the Sports Stadium, and the food, service was good as well..check it out

Its less funny if you're actually there.

Re: hotels in islamabad /rawalpindi area

^r u serious?

Re: hotels in islamabad /rawalpindi area

I find hotels a grey area, it all depends what you're looking for. I mean wherever you go, some 'flashy' hotels charge obsense amounts of money for a room with an olden day theme. Others such as the Burj are OTT with their fantasy world designs. You can spend much less for a really nice luxurious room where you actually feel comfortable in, in say, the Holiday Inn or Marriot. Where possible try to get as many images of the rooms as you can.
