Well.. I was just checking out hotels today for guests... You could get a hotel near a place called Harrow... probably cost u approx £100 per night for two people... reason i say harrow is because if u manage to get it near harrow on the hill station you can be in baker street via tube in 20 minutes which is central london
For food... well halal places are relatively everywhere all over london but a couple of restraunts I know of
Oscars in bayswater.. Inside whiteleys shopping centre, top floor.. they do mexican food
Kitchen N1... 5 minuts walk from Kings Cross tube station,
Blue elephant in fulham.. they do thai food
You have the whole of edgware road.
Nando's in shepherds bush, or bayswater (the only 2 halal ones im aware of in central)
um ummm im tryna think of more halal places.... the best ones are local takeaways lol but as i said u shudnt have a problem theres halal in alot of places
^ they are basic rooms, but very clean. My review from trip advisor:
Positives
Affordable - £36.00 per night
Clean -bed made every day, towels, soap etc changed
Close to tube station - only 5 mins walk
Friendly Staff
Free Wi-Fi in Lounge area only
Excellent eat as much as you can ‘buffet breakfast’ - only £3.25
Close to Heathrow Airport - get a tube (about 2/3 stops) or get taxi
In Hounslow town Centre - forgotten something? Nip over to the Treaty Shopping Centre only 2 mins walk
Tesco Express just located under the hotel
Negatives
Limited parking spots in their own car park, you may have to park in the side street after 6.30 and move before 8am - or pay and display - may be a bit of a walk
Basic rooms - no fridge, tea/coffee making facilities and no phone
I have stayed in an Etap in France, they are clean but very basic hotels. If you want to save money and just need somewhere to sleep they are perfectly adequate.
I think you need to decide if you want to be closer to Heathrow or in the city itself. Personally, I’d stay near the places you want to go. You only need to do the travel from the airport to central at the beginning and end of your stay.
If you are considering an Etap type hotel, there is the Ibis next to Euston station.
Drummond street is just next to it, which has a number of halal restaurants (only so-so though).
More than that, St. Pancras (where you will get the Eurostar to Paris) is just down the road.
The Bloomsbury area is in walking distance, where the British Museum is located. A short bus ride will get you to Oxford Street (can walk if no kids)/Leicester Square/Covent Garden/Trafalgar Square… and Westminster/Embankment/Southbank are not far from here. Bus from Euston to Leicester square takes 10-15mins depending on traffic without the hassle of getting in and out of an underground station.
Or in the other direction Baker Street/Paddington. Euston Square station (across the road from Euston station) will allow you to get the tube direct to Baker Street, Edgware Road, Paddington and Bayswater all of which have lots and lots of halal restaurants from Middle Eastern to Malaysian.
If you want to spend more on the hotel, than the whole Bloomsbury area close to Euston has lots and lots of hotels to choose from and everything above is just as easily accessible. The Imperial Hotels are about £100 a night for a double room.
Do use the TFL journey planner. Where ever you can I would avoid the tube and walk or take the bus instead. So if you were staying near Euston, for example, Euston to Baker Street = take the bus. Euston to Bayswater = take the tube. Euston to British Museum = walk.
Yelp is great for checking out whether places are any good to eat at.
Wow.. thanks for reviving a month old thread. Now I feel like an arse because the OP has probably booked a hotel by now!
^ lol yes OP must have booked hotel already. but thats great info you have shared. I have checked ETAP on internet and yes they seems to have very basic rooms n must be good only for sleeping. If i plan to visit London, it will be me , sis and her 2 yrs old son. So I think ETAP is not our choice. I will pay few more pounds but will get a more comfortable and spacious place. I am checking 3-4 star hotels in London (economic too, not very expensive) and i am mostly looking into ones which are near to the airport. Not sure if its a good decision. I know nothing about central london and which place is best to stay from a tourist point of view i.e. someone who is visiting for the first time.
Personally I would not stay near the airport as it's a bit far out and you don't want to travel to/from there everyday with a young child. You will find it much easier and more comfortable to be staying near the places you want to visit, so that if need be you can always just have a short bus ride to get back to your hotel. I would favour the the bus over the tube where you can use it, it takes a lot more energy to get down into the tube and sometimes doesn't save any time.
If you have a little extra money then a taxi to/from the airport just those 2 times will be very convenient. Again, you will prefer not to drag your luggage around on the coach or tube with a small child.
I really think the Bloomsbury area is a great choice as all the main tourist places are easily accessible by bus, walking and tube (many different underground lines are accessible from stations in this area), hence why there are so many hotels in this area.
How many days are enough to see London? 3-4 days would be enough?
I found this hotel apartments, “Chancery Lane Apartments” on internet. Seems good and its one bed aprtment so its even better. price wise economical too.
there are so many options if u go on internet. I do not know the places, so i actually googled based on hotels in bloomsbury area as you suggested. couldnt find anything good n economical in that area.
The place is not very cheap cant afford to stay for many days there. We will be going to Manchester as well… i am seeing accommodation cost is higher than our air tickets
