i didnt read all the posts in this thread, but personally, if your looking for unique i would DEF go with a hotpink/magenta and black lehnga!! i would rec the groom to wear:
western: black suit, magenta shirt and black tie
desi: black shirwani/shalwar kameez with magenta kaam and magenta kullaa/scarf
and you of course, a combo mixed in your legna....either:
entire black lenga with magenta kaam
or
entire magenta legna with black kaam
or magenta shirt and legna and black dupatta or vice versa
you could do a black chiffon lehenga, plain. and then do a long, fitted heavily embroidered black and dark pink shirt, with high side slits. you could add in silver accents or gold- either one would look really pretty.

i was discussing this black/hot pink lehnga with my mother in law to be and she said NO straight up! she said there will be lots of shia’s at the wedding..as my in laws r shias and it is going to look EXTREMELY bad. im kinda bummed. but on the bright side, i did look at mahismart’s post and kinda gave it a thought that hot pink might be a bit too close to the wedding dress anyways but since pink is my hubby’s colour im not dropping that! ive decided white with light pink and silver/gold! he could wear a light pink tie with a white shirt and black coat or have a white sherwani with very little (on borders) light pink kaam..same kaam as on my lehnga only MUCH lighter and a light pink duppatta thingi around his neck.
here’s a pic of wat my lehnga would be similar to..but i wanna make changes to te top..make it shorter and stuff but as far as the colours go..this gonna be it. this is my final decision. lemme know wat u guys think?
hubby’s is gonna be similar to this (most likely) but with light pink work instead of this bronze/brown colour.

Brown and hot pink make a beautiful combo. Your fiance could wear a brown suit with a lighter brown shirt and a hot pink tie. You could wear a hot pink outfit with brown worked into it somehow (maybe through the embroidery and jewellery)
With white table linen and brown and pink table accessories to match that would be one hell of a statement when people walk in to your venue and see the colour scheme in all its glory!
The other option is to save this cute color combo for a slightly less important day -- one in which you can get away with wearing a lengha that is mostly black and not as heavy. Then you can do a black lengha with the hot pink accents and he can have his black suit with hot pink shirt/tie (I personally think the shirt sounds great). It won't look "too much" if black is the more dominant color and the kaam isn't too heavy on all the clothes.
thx for all the suggestions ladies!! u guys were a GREAT help :). we have decided to go with light pink/white combo. I will be getting my frdz now to give me ideas on how i should style it but the colour combo will be the same as the pic i posted.

angel fairy...i agree wid randomgirl, maybe get ur hubby 2 b to wear a black kurta wid pink scarf n sum nice embroidery on kurta, wid black n pink kussay, and u can wear pink lengha with black work on it, it will luk wow n unique, good luk, and congrats in advance, when is the wedding? and please upload ur pics after! xxx
