Hospital Visit

Hospital officials confirmed a horse trotted through Wilcox Memorial Hospital earlier this month.

A spokesman for the hospital said a man called the hospital and said he was going to ride his father’s horse into the hospital, where his father was a patient.

“He proceeded to take the horse up the elevator up to the nursing floor where he was met by security and our nurse supervisor,” said the spokesman.

The man, who appeared intoxicated at the time, posed for pictures with the horse and an off-duty nurse.

The animal was escorted out of the building after the man’s father claimed the horse wasn’t his.

“We do have a pet visitation policy, but it does not include a horse,” said the spokesman.

Re: Hospital Visit

JayR , what a great post , especially when we all can enjoy the humour in it.

I recall a few years ago visiting a friend and there in the kitchen on the counter was quite a robust looking racoon drinking from an open bottle of champagne we had left unattended and the rear door unlocked.

aah yes, animals can surely soothe the human spirit. A very good friend of mine has a therapy dog who visits children in hospitals.

Another person I know has a guardian dog who nuzzles her to sit down as he can detect an epileptic seizure before she knows one is about to hit her.

Another person I know of has a dog which also nuzzles her to sit as she suffers from narcolepsy.

And today some dogs are used to detect cancers . They have a wonderful powerful sense of smell which doctors believe aids them in detecting cancers.

Yes, animals are to be cherished and treated wisely, kindly and affectionately. It bespeaks volumes that the horse remained calm in his journey throught the hospital via the elevator.

A couple years ago , I took one of my dogs out for an evening walk to visit a friend a few blocks away. The neighbor next to me was about 90 years old at the time. I saw him as I was leaving walking up his footpath toward his house. As I walked away with my dog on the sidewalk it kept tugging to go back. To the point it was trying to back out of the collar. Totally strange behaviour as my dog loves to walk, and walk and walk. So , I let the dog guide me back. At a rapid pace trailing behind him he went onto the neigbors property. As I approached I notice the neighbor face down and blood all around. He had tripped and his nose was bleeding. Can you imagine , if it was not for my dog I would not have gone back.

Thank you for the smile.:):)

What is it that you are planning to discuss. Knowing you(from your previous posts), the topic would be on the US hospitals could be so inhuman..
