horror story with Shahnawaz Palace

Hi all!

We just had our wedding on May 13th. In our wedding, the caterer (Shahnawaz Palace in Edison, NJ) tried to **blackmail **us 5 days before the wedding.

Here is what happened:

  • Six month before the wedding, we had signed a contract with the owner of Shahnawaz Palace to cater 2 nights of the wedding.
  • FIVE DAYS before our wedding, the manager contacted us and had increased the price by over $1,100 from the contract price. They threatened to cancel the contract if we did not pay the higher amount.
  • My mother-in-law spent the next 3 day scrambling to find a replacement caterer for our wedding.
    Needless to say we will never be visiting Shahnawaz Palace (Address: 159 Jackson Ave, Edison, NJ) ever again!

We are just happy to be married and that the wedding is over.

What reasoning did they offer for the increase in price?
Did you have a written contract? If yes and if the contract was sealed tight, then when they approached me for the increase, I would have put my foot down and simply had my lawyer make a phone call.
