i asked about this from my friends from this community and they admitted it.

FGM is not common in Pakistan at all. It is a practice that is linked with Africa specifically countries in Sub-saharan Africa and East Africa. Its a cultural practice and not a religious one. I am shocked to learn it is practiced in Pakistan. But regardless it is messed up. It should be out-lawed.
You want real horror stories read what happens in Somalia, Kenya and Ethiopia.

Well, from the article itself:
"In Pakistan, female circumcision is practiced by a few communities along the Iran-Balochistan border, and a few isolated tribes, as well as the Dawoodi Bohra community. Having said as much, here it is mostly not done very invasively, as opposed to some African countries where FGM/C may involve removal of the entire clitoris and labia."
Many years back I did some research to establish the attitudes and prevalence of FGM in the Indian subcontinent and the above is also what I found.
