horrid makeup trends

Sometimes desis tend to do some horrible makeup trends. I used to do a lot of dances or hosting on stage so i get the concept of thicker powder and lipstick with a pop of color so that our mouth will show up but i never understood why desis love to

  1. use eyeliner as a lip liner
  2. overly outline their lips in sometimes a really bad red color that doesn’t suit their skin tone
  3. white face, brown neck, be happy in the skin color god gave you no need to paint your face white…

feel free to add to the list.

I have to say i was checking out the Saturday Post Eid Makeover and was worried that readers may actually think harsh blush and lilac eyes and lips are the way to go with makeup, because it’s not. especially because the model is not a young girl…she’s older and needs to stick to more nuetral colors

The Saturday Post

this was the before:

and the after

i may add a lot of photoshopping has been done to the jawline area…

i personally wouldn’t want this sakib guy to do my makeup but that’s my take on it.

Any thoughts or contributions to the list of bad makeup trends some women go for? do you like the makeover the artist offered?

Re: horrid makeup trends

The racing stripe people make diagonally across their cheeks with their blushes. SO CHEAP LOOKING.

Re: horrid makeup trends

lol her lipstick is the same colour as my bedroom walls.

Re: horrid makeup trends

Eyeshadow does NOT have to match the color of your clothes!!!!!!!!

Re: horrid makeup trends

Re: horrid makeup trends

Pointed nails with exact shade of nail polish.

Re: horrid makeup trends

^ esp toenails on the verge of curling :P

Re: horrid makeup trends

I LOVE IT!!!... Especially the lilac lipstick. Please, somebody get me his contact details QUICK!!!!

EWWWW I HATE THAT luckily it tends to only be older women that didn’t get the memo toenails shouldn’t be long lol

as for the whole eyeshadow matching your clothing thing, you know its okay to do that i used to be against it but in the desi clothing sense sometimes it works as long as your other makeup is neutral like lips.

for example my friend nishi did really nice makeup for her mendhi

personally i think it looked great

don't rush into this!! i have a picture of an orange eye-lip combo that i can guarantee you will like better.

i think she looks great to  nice eyeliner

See, that DOES look nice though. Im talking about paindu looking makeup that just gets slopped on with all sorts of colors just to match the outfit. Your friend looks beautiful, but some people wouldnt have been so crafty with the eyeshadow brush and you would have seen an orange and pink explosion on their eyelids.

gargoyles

Re: horrid makeup trends

Here is something that kind of bugs me:

You know how some people put almost white eyeliner on their eyelids? And then on top of it they use black eyeliner?

Ewwwwwwwwww.

Re: horrid makeup trends

one thing i hate more than anything is different shade of lip liner

i have seen almost every desi girl or aunty using darker lp liner and lighter shade of lispstick

y?Y?Y? :frusty:

it makes them look like hookers y dont ppl see that :vivo:

Re: horrid makeup trends

I dont know if people do this anymore…but many years back when I was in Pakistan, I saw these girls getting ready for a wedding, they were using black eyeliner to paint a big fat beauty mark near their lips. I was like that the heck and I asked my aunt about it and she was like ya its so stylish :smack: Looked so ridiculous and fake!!!

For real!!!

I knooow, I hate that!

Re: horrid makeup trends

purple lips i have seen before, but purple BLUSH? wow..

Re: horrid makeup trends

all of the above plus extra long fake eyelashes.....I'm talking about the ones you can tell are fake from miles away. I saw a bride with those, and I thought now why would she do that to her beautiful eyes, almost everyone in the room was like "why are her fake eye lashes so long". it looks very CHEAP!!!

i see that often in bridal makeup and it looks kinda drag queen friendly, sometimes even those lash extensions look that way. I myself thought hmm lash extensions that could be neat, then i saw an asian girl with them and i was like holy crap they look so fake nevermind i'll just invest in a better eyelash curler. (mine are dreadfully straight and i'm too scared to do the eyelash perm).

i don't see people do the white eyeliner thing anymore but it was really big back in 98 and then some people kept it going till 01 but i haven't seen that recently.

dry lips, and lipstick...what a horrible idea!
