Have y’all ever been to a country or major attraction that was not worth the hype and money surrounding it? Have y’all traveled with a group that just ruined the experience for you? Do tell.
My brother and I visited Italy with my relatives one time. They are nice people, but my God are they horrible at scheduling and keeping on objective. I could not complain about it or try to take control of where we went (because it was not my money being spent and I was a child) but I just had so much internal frustration build up watching them run around looking at the most mundane parts of Venice. They dragged my brother and I from the more interesting attractions like Doge’s Palace to look at some bridge that was currently under construction. It was ridiculous.
I have had my fair share of horrible travel experiences, but the great travel experiences more than make up for those. :)
I also thought Venice is quite overrated. It's off my bucket list, but I don't really feel an urge to go there again anytime soon.
However there is one place that is the WORST and the BEST at the same time. Sounds weird?
I'm talking about Saudi Arabia. Going there for Hajj (once) and Umrah (six times) ranks among the most amazing and memorable experiences I have ever made. HOWEVER: Saudis really need to learn some manners. And they also need to learn how to organize themselves. I have had to deal with people from a lot of different countries. None of them was as unorganized as the Saudis.

Going to Saudi would definitely be a nightmare for me since I am female lmao, but I heard that Saudis and many gulf Arabs in general can be hostile towards South Asians. How true is that in your experience?
How interesting... I was just in Italy a couple months ago (Florence, Rome, Siena, Luca, and Cinque Terre) and found the opposite to be the case. The trains and buses ran on time, tour guides were helpful and punctual, etc... Maybe Venice in particular is disorganised!
If you require punctuality when you're travelling stay away from Jamaica. Least punctual set of people on the planet (I can say that because I am one lol.)

Oh no, it wasn't the facilities themselves that were horrible with schedules, but my relatives. They would have a general set up of what we would see when we went to a city, but then go all over the place when we actually went there.

Oh well in that case we should send both our family's on vacation together. I heartened to hear that I'm not the only one that wants to pull out their hair in that regard lol

As I said, the spiritual part of it is great. Just to experience that I would actually go there again. Despite the behavior of the people.
Regarding hostility of the Saudis it really depends where you are. The people in Madina are among the nicest people I have ever met. Hands down. But in other places I have found Saudis in general to be very rude and unfriendly. Not everyone of course. I have met very nice people in Mecca, Jeddah and Riyadh as well.
I've only been to Mecca and Medina and everyone was nice and was willing to help you out... @LP is probably the person you should ask about Saudi...
No, I'm not. I'm biased when it comes to Saudi. It's my home and I love it. I was born and brought up here and I know the language well so I gel in easily. I have had mostly good experiences with Saudi's. Just like any other country, Saudi has its issues too and the country is changing just like any other country in the world.
