Does anyone know how I can get rid of this really bad cough that I have… its a really “throaty” whooping type cough… I hate it. I cannot sing whilst im cooking anymore because of the damn cough! I tried everything, honey and Lemon, cough syrups and I have even held my breath a few times. Nothing works!!! (plus those cough syrups have ethonol in the them = alcohol)

bunnyhoney, it may seem very rude but when someone says to me
Those cough syrups have ethonol in the them = alcohol, so I dont/cannot use them.
I tell them pack your bags & go back to Pakistan, since u are unfit for this country.
You are using cough syrup as medicine not having fun or enjoying it, intention matters here. Buy some decent cough syrup & use it.
BTW, singing while cooking is haram too ;)

If you know there is a haram product in any kind of food, then as a Muslim you should avoid eating it - YES ETHANOL IS ALCOHOL. Gelatine is also in food, but do you eat it, simply becuase you do not live in an Islamic country? You people call yourself Muslims? Shame on you.

Try 2 table spoon honey with 1/2 tsp ground black pepper... eat it slowly like it stays in you mouth and throat longer and dont drink water after it for a while... works every time for me....!

Yes this good. Tea prepared with Ginger also helps.
It could be because of pollen allergy (depending on where you live). Ask a doctor if it is so. Claritin-D is a good allergy medicine. It does not have any ethanol :) .

I had a cough so bad a couple years back that even the strongest
antibiotic couldn't get rid of. Then my doc told me to use mucinex (the green box) and that helped a lot. Now I am not sure what kinda cough you have
and whether mucinex would help or not. But no harm in trying it.
Also try "sudafed for sinus". That has also helped me in the past.

Last time I checked singing was also haram. Also, I'm assuming since you're a singer and all you must watch Bollywood movies; which again, is also haram. You also said, "damn", and you call yourself a Muslim woman. Shame on you.

...i didn't realize that ethnol was in so many products...but if its for an illness it should be aloud shouldn't it...i mean for some ppl coughs and colds affect badly...

If you have a congestion and cough, then you should use Mucinex DM w/ cough suppressant. Basically it will loosen up your mucous membrane and you'll be able to cough up any phlegm, as well as suppress your cough! If not you can always use Robitussin DM syrup. Hope you feel better!

sprinkle lil black pepper on a spoon full of honey and that shud help u get rid of the cough atleast for few hrs...good luck!

Thanks for the awesome advise, y'all. I went to see the DR yesterday and she sadi that its either my Asthma playing up or I have infection in my chest. She says she could hear a few "noises" in my chest.... scary! She gave me some antibiotics and Asthma stuff....

I think maybe you might have a allergy or something, if nothing is helping you (cough syrup, lemon & honey) so get it check and find out if you've allergy or not.
