I dress very badly, I admit with precious little chagrin. I am an eyesore. I stick out because my garb is so atrocious and so out of place. Either it is capris with my dad’s socks, my trusty male chappals, or unpressed shalwar kameez in a class of all white people with everybody sneaking glances at me and wondering whether my wrinkled shalwar is a fashion statement (hah!, more like fashion myopia) or part of the outfit.
I have always dressed badly. It’s not that I don’t have a sense of fashion, just that it all looks lovely in my rose-tinted imagination but ugly on me. So I stick to my meagre wardrobe and try not to feel too bad. At least I have improved and progressed from wearing self-torn clothes and the same guy’s boots day in and day out.
So any other people who have been scolded for their poor dressing style? Are you planning to change in the future? I am not, where will the money come from anyway?
m too lazy to press my clothes.. n sumhow... i tend to ignore the horror on other's face when they see me dress in shuffled clothes n totally odd combination of outfits.... :-/
I do hesitate to iron my clothes..but if they are wrinkled i do iron them. My dressing can totally depend on the types of clothes i own at that moment. Sometimes my family gets irritated with the colours or sizes of my clothes..but what can i do..if i get all the same colour clothes from backhomes or if someone gifts me something. I like to wear whatever i get. But these days, i am not as badly dressed when i go out because over the years i have collected some coordinated long skirts and shirts from here, oman, pakistan and india. But i ragrofy my sandal/slipper and scarfs. If you are worried about money, when you go backhome you can get things from there or buy them on cheap prices from here from those small one shop botiques in malls or from outlet stores.
Being fashiony doesn't mean you have to spend serious money, plus why would anyone want to look like a ad from Banana Republic? You can buy fairly prices clothes dress them up in a million different ways, add a accessory here or there do something stylish with your hair and people will never know that you are wearing the same outfit.
I love clothes but since I'm still a student I can't afford much so I wait for sales and its like that saying its not what you wear but how you wear it.
ayeeee!
i am lazy to iron clothes.. i will take that 5 extra mins of sleep instead of doing hair n make up any time :D
for me comfort comes first. i am out of the house most of the day and i have to walk a lot so my priority is to make sure i am wearing comfy shoes and comfy clothes. oh yes n i am ghareeb student as well. so i usually wait for sales and good deals if i can afford to shop that month.
dress is such a big reflection on the person..personally when i meet other people i try to dress as best as i can..afterall your appearance says a lot about you..wrinkled clothes, torn jeans maybe suits college students but not if you're in your mid 20s or later..
Man nice to know i’m not the only one who actually takes time to wear something clean, ironed, and do my hair and makeup. I hate when ppl say “well I’ve to study!” as an excuse for looking like crap… who says you can’t look good and get good grades?
since you're a student right now, it is barely OK to dress frumpy in un-ironed non-matching clothes. But I hope you don't continue as such when you get out into the real world and start looking for a job.
