Because Allah commands muslims to pray, and never lose hope. To do it for material reason alone negates the very reason for doing it because you do it out of faith and to show obedience to the one who created a person in various stages, then gave it life, then gives it death, and then will give it life again to judge the person’s actions.
It’s all faith based. Doing it for any other reason would be pretty disappointing because if you don’t get what you want, you’ll see no reason behind it. If you get it, you’ll try to reason it and connect dots and find an explanation for it. Faith defies logic/statistics.
