Re: Hope in a Jar

Mami there is a cream called hope in a jar?! wow..

Re: Hope in a Jar

Yes, by Philosophy.

Re: Hope in a Jar

Philosphy? wow.. let me google that up

Re: Hope in a Jar

I used it a couple of years back and it gave me rashes and really irritated my skin. I guess it doesn't work on everybody. Try out a sample before you buy it.

Re: Hope in a Jar

didn't like it - very hopeless

Re: Hope in a Jar

Philosophy!! Love the brand, hate this product.

This product that has been hyped up beyond belief. Like its name states, it comes in a jar and, also like its description states, is supposed to give you hope to "reduce the appearance of wrinkles, skin discolouration, rough texture and dehydration. All it did was burn my eyelids... even though i didn't apply it there!!! And for those who are not used to it, they may find the texture strange.... they describe it as a soufflé mixture, but it's not like a soufflé mixture i've ever tried.......to describe it, it's like water mixed with air, gel, lotion... and any other type of spreadable body product...the whole shebang rolled into one big mush and packed into a jar.

And if i recall correctly.... i remember my SIL telling me that she got the product on one of her shirts by accident when applying, and it actually bleached the shirt!!!

This product is Hopeless.

Re: Hope in a Jar

if it burns it prolly has some of that acid stuff used to peel off skin layers etc.

Re: Hope in a Jar

Hmmm, i can't recall any of the ingediants being AHA's.... i remember behenic acid is in this cream, but this would not produce the bleaching effect.

Niki, i wouldn't buy this cream if you have sensitive skin... i'm on the phone to one of my friends in the US and i just mentioned this to her, it turns out she needed a cortisone shot because of the horrible rash she got from one application!

Re: Hope in a Jar

Well thanks for letting me know.

Re: Hope in a Jar

i bought it a couple of days ago.. still haven't used it.. it does contain AHA.

Re: Hope in a Jar

In fact, after looking at the ingredients list again, the first nine ingredients after water are all either for hydrating or thickening purposes, rather than potent antioxidants, niacinamide, retinoids, collagen-building peptides or alpha hydroxy acids, all of which are proven to be effective against signs of aging or prevention. It does not contain many proven anti-aging ingredients, and it does not seem to contain a high concentration of retinol either....

The one i have does not contain any recognisable AHA's..... but i think the US version contain a small amount of lactic acid ?? I'm not sure....

Re: Hope in a Jar

I love it :( I love their raspberry sorbet shower gel too!

Re: Hope in a Jar

It's blah, nothing to rave about.

Re: Hope in a Jar

I read their reviews on the actual hope in a jar website and I would not use it ever. I have read about people burning their skins, I have red about allergies, I have red about red rashes, I have read about the bad medicinal type smell that it has.

Never ever putting such a product on my face.
