Honeymoon in Scotland

Hey guys, hope you can help. My fiance’s passport has been lost by the DVLA office so we wont have it back in time to go to Dubai therefore we are rearranging our holiday and are planning to drive up to Scotland.

Any recommendations on hotels and areas where we can get halal food etc

Re: Honeymoon in Scotland

We were staying near Edinburgh recently and there was a lot of touristy things to do, halal food places there.

Depends which part of Scotland you want to visit and where you are driving from?

There are a lot of excursions up to the Loch's and highlands but depending on how long you are going for you could drive yourself.

I am not sure about accomodation, but on the coast near Edinburgh where we were (we stayed self catering at HAVEN) there are a lot of places looking out to sea that look lovely.
Try in the area surrounding port Seton?

Hope that helps?

Re: Honeymoon in Scotland

Can't recommend any hotels but If you are going anywhere near Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen then there should be no problem with halal food.

What about switzerland??

We will be staying in Zurich? any halal places there?

Re: Honeymoon in Scotland

You could also see the Lake District on the way to Scotland.

Re: Honeymoon in Scotland

Oh and I would recommend the A7 Tourist Route into Scotland...making sure you stop off at Hawick Falls as it's beautiful!

We followed Sat Nav up to Edinburgh, but on the way back I studied the Atlas that was in the car and planned a scenic drive home and it was the designated Tourist route too!!!!

This way you see the Borders sights

Totally agree! I went to Torquay on honeymoon due to various reasons; however a few years later whenit was more convenient we went to Goa and Dubai as a sort of 2nd honeymoon.

In my case I got a lot of flack for not going abroad etc - but at the time I just didn’t care where I went as long as I could de-stress as the lead up to the wedding was of course hectic!!!

Re: Honeymoon in Scotland

If you want to do touristy things then its got to be the capital however I am from Glasgow so I would always say Glasgow Smiles better. If you are wanting something scenic then you got to go up the west coast of scotland up towards Aviemore etc, its absolutely gorgeous up there, you can hire log cabins etc. very peaceful however I reckon you will need to live of fish and vegetarian food as I don't reckon there will much choice of halal food. In Glasgow there is halal food everywhere you go.

Have you looked into going into Ireland as I don't think you need a passport to go across, I here that Dublin is lovely and there is asian community there and hopefully halal food.
