Re: Honeymoon in Maui

We went snorkeling by the small crescent shaped island Molokini that is near the Maui. And then we snorkeled in "turtle bay," off the coast of Maui, where all the giant green sea turtles hang out (it's like a spa for them, where the little cleaner fish give the turtles facials and massages).

After the initial shock of being in the middle of the Pacific Ocean (I'm not much of a swimmer), I began to relax and look about me. The water was amazingly clear and the coral had so many strange looking creatures hidden within it. It looked like scenes from Finding Nemo! Many of the brightly colored fish and turtles came right up to us. They were very curious. We even saw a shark and eels from a distance. I didn't go close, tho the more experienced snorkelers did.

Unfortunately the photos from our disposable underwater camera didn't come out well. These photos below are of the same animals we snorkeled with, but these were taken at the aquarium in Maui.

Re: Honeymoon in Maui

Because most restaurants are open to the outside, with a ceiling and barely any permanent walls, we'd often see birds flocking around the tables. When diners left their table, the birds would immediately flock to get the left overs. Some times they didn't wait until you left.

Wow, amazing pics Sahar! It looks so dreamy and romantic.

How did you like snorkelling? It’s such a unique experience, don’t you think? Looking at life under the sea … it’s a totally different world.

(by the way, this belongs in Travel & Tourism :snooty: )

Re: Honeymoon in Maui

Nice pics.
How exactly did you take the underwater pics ? Do you have a casing for your digital camera for underwater photography?

Re: Honeymoon in Maui

Beautiful pictures. I’ve always loved hawaai and that’s my most favorite place to go as soon as I get a chance. I used to work in a travel agency a few years ago and I used to see those beautiful resort pictures and cruise deals etc. It’s affordable and very lovely place. I will go there for my honeymoon inshallah

Re: Honeymoon in Maui

Re: Honeymoon in Maui

Thanks, Gizzy, for uploading these!

Mehnaz – snorkeling was great! I want to do it again, now that I’ll be less nervous. (these are personal pics so it’s ok to post here :snooty: )

insan – yup, it’s in Hawaii. Very beautiful. I’m sure you both will enjoy it, inshAllah.

Ahmed_Jehanzeb – We saw the seven pools, but never made it up to the volcano at sunrise. What we saw was pretty amazing tho. Altho I always had this fear in the back of my mind that the volcanoes would become active…

phatima1 – Thanks, I’m glad you enjoyed them! Always nice to meet another Marylander

Neera – Thank you! :stuck_out_tongue:

Sara – Holding the camera :snooty:

Chandbeti – Haven’t been online in a long time. Will try to catch you next time on MSN.

Janwar – Thanks!

fayax – Thank you. We bought a disposable underwater cam. It’s pretty much a regular disposable with plastic casing. Unfortunately, you need to be very close for the photos to come out clear. We got some nice shots of coral, tho!

Shikra – Tho the travel and even hotel expenses weren’t AS expensive as I might have thought, every meal was pretty pricey, so be prepared to spend money while you are there. The food is delicious tho, amazingly fresh and tasty. :yummy:

ChupKeSe – Thank you!
