‘Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. ‘
This saying is very true. I’ll be honest, as a parent i didn’t take my little daughter to hand and right now in her pre-teens, she’s stubborn, throws tantrums and there’s never any moment when she can speak properly without raising her voice.
I was exasperated. I tried reading all sorts of material on parenting, tried counselling, scolding and even spiritual methods (church). But none of them worked…well, she would behave in a docile manner in front of the counsellors, psychologists and pastor but once she got back the ‘demon’ was unleashed once again.
Desperate, i searched all over the net for clues. At this point in time, my buddy on MSN recommended me to take a look at a parenting guide titled ‘honest parenting’. I was so frustrated and tired, I didn’t want any more tactics, strategies or 12 steps. I wanted parenting information that got results, builds relationships, relieves stress and just make my girl level headed and rational.
So I grabbed ‘honest parenting’. Within the first few chapters, I discovered the keys of building trust, basics of effective communication, disciplining without fighting, arguing or yelling, discovering if your child actually suffers from behavioral disorder and solving it, as well as keys to repairing a relationship!
‘honest parenting’ also offers a free monthly newsletter that I signed up for which gave me invaluable tips on how to relate to your child, specific parenting issues and much more!
After noticing my girl improving slowly in her behavior, I am amazed and only have good things to say about this guide.
I’m giving it 4.5 stars out of 5.
