One should not be brutally honest in any relationship. what's the charm in hurting someone's feeling ? no body is prefect !

My wife is honest to the limit, to the extent that it hurts sometimes (sometimes it hurts her and sometime other party) and I ask her to be diplomatic at least with me at times :)

i think honesty is goood ... but u have to take care of hte other person's feelings ... like if you SO asks you if this jeans makes me look fat ... then screw the honest answer and go with the right answer

being honest is best but not necessarily the best policy, i got nothing by being honest. it differs from person to person. so judge the other person first and set yr limitations(if any) to being honest according to that.

The extent to which you should be honest is a difficult question. It is also very difficult to be fully honest, because like most of you have said, it can hurt the other person or yourself.
In the end though, it is best to be fully honest. As difficult as that may be, honesty helps you grow as a person and really see yourself and the other person for who they are.

u can be honest by not mentioning anything at all, after all u're not lying and i read somewhere(hadith book or somewhere) that anyhting that may cause harm or fitna then it's best to remain silent about it, even if it's the truth. if somethings not such a big deal then there's no reason for 'being honest' about the most petty of issues!

honesty is very important, merey hisaab sey to sab kuch pehley bata dena chahiye and let the other person make an educated decision as to what they are getting themselves into.
