Hi All,

I am planning to get married in mid of september somewhere. We both fancy visiting karachi immediately after wedding.

Anyone suggest the best hotel/guesthouse for couple. I have seen online some of them..PC, Avari towers stands out from rest ..

Is commuting to and fro from airport is safe ? whats the best way?
want to look around the city..get a hire car is a safe option?
which places are safe and i should visit ..

personal experince shared will be appreciatable..

Er, I wouldn't really consider Karachi a honeymoon destination :/
its definitely not that safe and what would you do there? Stay in your hotel all day? It's not like there's much in terms of sightseeing or fancy restaurants. I guess you could go shopping?

Well to be honest..we from northern areas i.e kashmir..have enough mountaineering..she loved to go the beach..and as karachi is a big metropolitan city..we would love to see a lit up place near beach...and one can't avoid shopping when accompanied by wife...

All I need a good/best hotel...and some safe places to visit...

EATING OUT. If you wish to try street food, and like Nehari, try Sabri on Burns Road. Try seekh kebabs at Bundu Khan’s. And, of course, Sheraton, Marriott, Avari Towers, Pearl Intercontinental boast excellent restaurants.

SAILING. It is an incredibly rich experience to hire a boat at Keamari and have them take you out for the day. Along the way, you’ll have an opportunity for crabbing and can buy fresh shrimp from passing fishing boats. The crew on your hired sailboat will cook on the spot. Pure joy and very inexpensive. Just learn to negotiate, though.

SHOPPING. All over the place. Clifton area (Kehkashan), Saddar, Zebunnisa Road, etc.

Ramada plaza hotel is near by airport. And you can get cab from hotel on request. It will be safe because hotels keep info and everything of cab n driver.

You can go to churna island for scuba diving ,Cliff Diving ,Snorkeling and other Water Sport Adventures.

OP, Karachi alone for a honeymoon destination doesn't sound very exciting but since you want to, here are some places that could make it worthwhile for you.

  1. Hotels; PC/Avari/Movenpick are the best ones. apart from hotels, you can get also get a challet booked. (expensive but lovely) and if you want a little reasonable accommodation then Beach luxury hotel is a safe bet. located in safest locality with the most serene atmosphere it is a safe bet.

Places to visit
1. Port grand
variety of food options, boat ride etc.
2. Gadani beach
3. Hawksby beach
4.French beach
5. Clifton beach
6. beach avenue-Do darya strip- nice and with restaurants best for romantic dinner by the sea.
7. Cruise dinner done by private clubs but you Cartlon hotel and Savor restaurant also does it.
8. Crabbing/fishing at kemari- the boat charges 12-15 k for 10-12 persons. You can still hire with full price for just the two of you. Buffet included and its yum if you are seafood lover.
9. trip to Mohatta palace
10. Trip to ferere gardens
11. Waterparks situated at highway side. Fiesta is better.
12. A drive to gulshan-e-maymar area with lunch at any of the karahi restaurants on highway strip is also worth doing.( avoid dinner as its unsafe in that area).
13. Arena Club- for bowling and other games
14. Cinemas- Nueplex, cinepax & cineplex
15. Parks- Safari Park, Hill Park( not highly recommended though) Nisar Shaheed park defence and Ibn-Qasim Park Clifton & Creek Park Defence

Food
Plenty of options, high end eateries at clifton/zamzama/Soceity. some good restaurants at hotels, Food courts at malls
Street food at burnsroad, hussainabad, gurumandir etc.

Shopping
Dolmen city mall clifton & Dolmen mall tariq road, Ocean mall, park towers, forum mall
Zamzama shopping street and bahadurabad shopping street for some high end shopping

Zainab Market for handicrafts
Gulplaza-for all kinds of local and imported crockery and household stuff
Gold market saddar- for gold jewellery

i would also suggest that you also take a trip to Hyderabad and a trip to Thatta and possibly to Moen jo daro as well outside of Karachi.

m still cautious about security situation....I dont know anybody there...to get the hotel cab from airport and rent a car from reception for outing sound like a good bet??? plz advise us

yes, its safe to get car service from the hotel you would be staying at. just ask them to give you a car without the hotel b*****ng on it so it doesn't become prominent when its out on the roads.
and when you are going out, don't wear any gold,expensive wrist watch etc. keep plastic money instead of cash and don't take out your cell phones while your car is at traffic signals.

I don't understand why you are choosing Karachi if you don't know anybody or aren't familiar with the place. It is an unsafe and unpredictable city, sudden strikes shut the entire city down, mobile/wallet/jewelry snatching at gun point are a norm, people don't keep expensive mobiles anymore nor wear jewelry and people keep minimal cash with them. I would advise you to reconsider your destination. It would be different if you knew trustworthy people to guide and show you around.

raania..you tempting me to reconsider my choice...i appreciate your concerns..i will getting in touch with someone there i know..i will plan my visit when i will get sopme assurance...infact she is in pakistan and she is not afraid...as i am away so i can see the things more scary..
