If I buy a house in the middle of the year from a seller who is already claiming homestead exemptions on his property taxes, do I have to re-apply for the homestead exemption?
I am getting a calculated amount from Seller for the taxes from Jan to May '05. I will pay the taxes from June to December in December. I am wondering if my homestead exemption will be factored into my tax bill in december this year. What do I have to do to make sure that it is?

We have a homestead exemption in Fla, and I am good friends with the tax collector. Thought I could help, sorry.
Re: Homestead Exemption
Asif bahi, I went to appraisal office they said if you bought property in middle of year, you are not qualified for Homestead.
Re: Homestead Exemption
Get yourself a lawyer... that's what they do for living.
Re: Homestead Exemption
According to my title company, I don't have to re-apply for the homestead exemption for this year since it was already applied for. I will get homestead exemptions for this year. I will have to reapply for the next year between Jan and Apr.
I closed this afternoon by the way
