The only experience I’ve had with homeopathy was when I started losing my hair and developed bald patches on my head at the age of 10. :o They gave me some herbal soap to wash my hair with and it worked. I got all my zulfein back, shukar hai!
I doubt homeopathic medicines are regulated in Pakistan. I wouldn’t disparage homeopathy. It has advanced a lot now and has become a science in itself. My first choice would obviously be conventional medicine but if nothing is working for me, I wouldn’t be afraid to go to a qualified homeopathic doctor.
The main difference between Allopathic medicine and Alternative medicine is that one treats the symptoms and the other Cause of disease.
There is one more very important difference, Allopathic treatment is quick, superficial, and temporary, where as, alternative treatment is slow, profound, and permanent (if done right).
Homeopathy is one of the branches of Alternative (aka Naturopathic) medicine.
I think homeopathy here in Pakistan is a load of bollocks. Don't know about anywhere else, here we just have quacks who were too stupid to become real doctors handing out sugary sweet magic pills and fooling people.
I've seen it work... and don't have any reservations about using it myself. I would, however, seek the mainstream allopathic standards first before trying any alternatives.
Mad Scientist, I am sorry for your loss, may God give you fortitude to bear the pain.
For diseases that require aggressive and quick treatment, modern medicine is best. There are two things in modern medicine that are worth keeping, diagnostic equipments and surgery. The cancer stage you are describing, I dont think even aggressive chemotherapy could cure.
Natural medicine is more of a preventive care coupled with lifestyle changes. Its very strong and powerful, yet subtle and slow.
Natural medicine can prevent the cancer cells from forming, and if that stage has passed, it can prevent cancer cells from multiplying. But a full blown cancer in which rotten cells are quickly multiplying and spreading, surgery and chemotherapy is the best option, that gives patients some extra time.
Naturopathy is a marvelous system and it completely aligns with the way human body is designed. Nonetheless, like many other holistic systems, it has been abused and given a bad name. Some damage is done by jaali hakeems, while some damages are done by proponents of modern medicine on the basis of lust of money. I hope I can be one of the torch bearers, and can undo some of the damage.
Not to mention the fact that there is no scientific basis for homeopathy (speaking as a chemistry degree holder).
There are many importing things in the world that have no scientific explanation. How do u define God, how do u explain a heart smaller than a fist carrying an ocean of emotions, how do u explain moon cycles, how do u explain pain, how do u explain telepathy and hypnotism.
My friend, this universe is a complex and intricate peace of art. Knowledge is like a horizon, the closer you get to it, the farther it gets. There are people who spent their whole life in studying the smallest particle of matter, atom. There are people who spent their whole life in studying the smallest particle of human body, cell. Even the smallest particles have a whole new world in them, to be discovered.
Homeopathy, or any other alternative medicine (hikmat etc) works best as a source of prevention, not necessarily a cure. Usually people go to homeopaths or hakeems only when they are tired of allopathic doctors, or have lost all hope. At that stage, an honest homeopath or hakeem will tell you that it is usually not possible to reverse the condition, specially if it has already been treated by allopathic medicine.
In cases where one has a disease or some other problem, it makes more sense to go to an allopathic doctor. However, if you are young and healthy, it might make sense to go for homeopathic or hikmat intervention in order to make sure you dont get anything major later in your life. eg, if you have a family history of diabetes or heart disease or liver disease, then it might be helpful to take early medication from a homeopath or a hakeem in order to prevent a possible future occurrence of the disease. Just an opinion.
