Some people disregard homeopathic medicine the same as an atheist would deny the existence of God. I was wondering if anyone of you has any success stories to share with regards to homeopathic treatment.
What's the matter BoSS? Doll ain't doing no more for ya?
It's been around for ages now. My theory is that if it was really that good, it would have taken off by now.
My parents used to take me to this homeopathic doctor when I was little. The only good part was the medicine in the form of glucose powder and those teeny lil pills. It never worked for me and I always ended up going to the regular doctor.
It depends.
It has done wonders for my sinus problem. But if I break my leg in an accident, I can't only take medicine for it.
I have tried homeopathic medicine for quite a few things now and so far it has worked. In some cases better than other medications.
When no other treatments helped Ibrahim to sleep, homeopathic medication did.
Noor only gets homeopathic medication and so far it has worked for everything from simple gastric problems to fever.
I suppose for acute conditions, like a broken leg etc., it would not be the best option....but other than that, I'm a believer.
I did take homeopathic medicines to treat my excema during my childhood, unfortunately it made the condition much worse. However I have seen people have success with it too, so I guess it depends on what the condition is.
Muzna, I didn't know you could give babies homeopathic medicine, I presume its in the liquid form? I quite like the idea of using alternative remedies on Harris but find it quite confusing knowing what is safe for babies.
Homeopaths Use Such Small Doses That They Couldn't Possibly Have Any Physiological Effect. How Can You Respond to This?
Although we don't understand precisely how the homeopathic medicines work, there is clear evidence that the medicines are active and can heal. Homeopathy became popular in this country and in Europe during the 1800s because of its success in treating the many infectious diseases that raged during that time, including yellow fever, scarlet fever, cholera, and many others. The death rate in homeopathic hospitals was between one-half to one-eighth of those in conventional medical hospitals. Homeopathic medicines also have been shown to work on infants and on various animals (including dogs, cats, horses and even cows) where it is highly unlikely that they are acting only as a placebo. Homeopaths also find that people who are being treated with homeopathic medicine for a chronic disease sometimes experience a temporary exacerbation in their symptoms as the body's defenses are being stimulated. Homeopaths have found that a "healing crisis" is sometimes necessary to achieve healing. It is highly unlikely that this temporary worsening of symptoms is the result of a placebo response.
There has also been some good scientific research published in medical journals and other scientific publications. A survey of research published in the British Medical Journal (February 9, 1991) indicated that there have been 107 controlled clinical trials, 81 of which showed that the homeopathic medicines had beneficial results.
Of the various studies, 13 of the 19 trials showed successful treatment of respiratory infections, 6 of 7 showed positive results in treating other infections, 5 of 7 showed improvement in digestive disorders, 5 of 5 showed successful treatment of hay fever, 5 of 7 showed faster recovery after abdominal surgery, 4 of 6 promoted healing of arthritic conditions, 18 of 20 showed benefit in relieving pain or trauma, 8 of 10 showed positive results in reducing psychological problems, and 13 of 15 showed benefit of various disorders.
The small doses used by homeopaths only have an effect when a person has a hypersensitivity to the small doses given. If the wrong medicine is given to a person, nothing happens. If the correct medicine is given, the medicine acts as a catalyst to the person's defenses. In any case, homeopathic medicines do not have side effects.
i prefer homeopathic coz it doesn’t have side effects. some 15 years ago i had really bad asthma and the regular medicines didn’t help at all. my parents then took me to a homeopathic doc and within 2 weeks, i had made a full recovery from that incident. so yea, i believe in it.
last year when i went back home, my mom dragged me to this homeopathic clinic… they made me answer a whole questionnaire and i had to schedule an exam before they would prepare/prescribe my medication. it seemed like a nice professional place, but i couldn’t be bothered to go thru all that :halo:
shahreen,
My brother prescribes remedies for Noor. They are usually tiny, white, sugar pills that have absorbed the medicine. I take three or four of them, as directed, crush them in a piece of paper and drop it in her mouth.
She has become so accustomed to the taste that she doesn't struggle and actually enjoys it.
I have used these remedies for her when she has had stomach trouble or fever and both times they have worked.
Thanks Muzna, I will definately consider this once I find a good homeopathic doctor.
a few years ago the little finger of my right foot used to develop some dead cells. The problem persisted for almost 5 years. I discussed it with allopathic doctors but they would just remove the dead part by operating. Then I tried a homeopathic doctor. He gave me sweet lil pill. I used them for a month and my finger stoped doing that crazy thing..
Anyway, the Bottom line is, I do believe in homeopathic medicine
I went for acupuncture and it really worked. Homeopathic takes some time but it's more long lasting than other treatments.
I have tried Homeopathy here is what I understand of it and some interesting things…
Allopathic medicine tries to cure the symptoms and not the actual cause, where as Homeopathic medicine tries to cure the actual cause. Generally physicians give you a pain killer for the headache rather than trying to cure the actual problem or to establish why or what caused the headache. In the case of Homepathy they try to cure the actual cause of the ailment. Hence they need to know a lot of details. I have heard of some doctors taking 3 or 4 appointments discussing the different details before actually prescribing the medicine.
In one of the story narrated to me one good friend of the homeopathic doctor was ill and the doctor tried for quite a long time and was still unable to cure his friend, unable to find the cause of the ailment. Until finally he saw his friend painting, he noticed how his friend used to hold the brush in his moth. That made the doctor realize that it was the very small quantities of paint that his friend was taking in that was the cause of the ailment. And so he was able to prescribe him a medicine that cured him.
So Homeopathy needs a lot of investigation and is “slow”. Slow in sense that first the cause need to be established. Once the cause is established the medicine is prescribed. This could take a long time due to so may and once the cause is established Homepathy can be very fast.
Another interesting thing is that in homeopathy they use medicines that are created from every imaginable substance. All kind of poisons, metals, herbs …
Homepathy works so that it give very small quantities of the very “substance” that is causing the problem. These small doses of the substance help the immune system to strengthen against it and so sure the ailment. So the medicine prescribed for the bee sting is actually made from the sing of the bee.
“Another thing a lot of people believe is that Homepathy has no side effects or negative effects”
If the actual cause if identified and the right medicine are prescribed then there will not be any side effects. But if a wrong medicine is prescribed then it will defiantly be harmful. Any thing that has some advantage will defiantly have a disadvantage. So there is negative effect if you take the wrong medicine. But since it is in very small quantities the effect is not so evident comparatively.
when i was young i had huge problem getting sick all the time becuz of tonsils or throat infection. Tried using homeopathic medicine for almost six months but it never worked for me and eventually i had to rely on antibiotics again :(
