Re: Homemade wedding centerpieces?

I did my own nikkah centerpieces, but I dont have pictures :(

I basically went to a wholesaler, and bought vases, then I found a flower wholesaler, and bought enough flowers from there. I dont like roses anyway, so I was able to save money by using Tulips instead. And I also bought those fake "ice crystals" from a craft store

So basically to assemble it, I put the ice crystals in the bottom, put 3 flowers in each vase, and then filled it a little more than half way with water. I bought those tall cyclinder vases.

Just a tip: if you are buying flowers from a wholesaler, and placing your order ahead of time, ensure you leave enough time between delivery and your event to let the flowers bloom. When my flowers came, they hadnt bloomed yet. So my bhabi (who is so resourceful) called a florist to find out how to get them to bloom really fast, and we had to keep them in almost boiling water for 3 hours before they finally started to open up.

I also did my own Mehdni centerpieces. I bought Moroccan lamps online (I found a really good deal - if you want to site let me know, and I will dig it out from my emails). From the same flower wholesaler that I bought the flowers, I got really big leaves, and I bought tealight candles from the dollar store. On each table, we put a Moroccan lamp, with a tealight candle in it, and underneath the lamp, I put 3 large leaves equally spaced apart.

We did centerpieces recently for a party we had.

We found a box full of vases off of craigslist - they were all different shapes and sizes. We went branch picking in a nearby forest preserve. We found thin branches that weren't too rough looking and cut them into about the same length. Spray painted them gold and then hung paper flowers off of them with ribbons.

The result was fabulous!

Saimab33 - i would love it if you could send me the link for the website. :)

Re: Homemade wedding centerpieces?

I did something similar to what saimab33 did on her mehndi.

For my mehndi, I bought morroccan lamps too, sprinkled tea lights, and fresh rose petals!

Where in England are you based Cupcake? x

Based in the south east of england if that helps?

Re: Homemade wedding centerpieces?

here are the Moroccan lamps. They have lots of different designs, and the more you buy, the bigger discount you get!
