Thats what I was going to say, Hummus is made by Chickpeas and they are main ingredient. I always made hummus at home. This recipe is much a kind of Tahini dip as in hummus Tahini is not put in larger amount
So this might be a stupid question, but anyone know of a recipe for hummus that does not include tahini? I’ve tried it a couple times and concluded that maybe I just don’t like tahini…
(I’m too lazy to google, plus I would love to have a tried and tested recipe)
ya, you can omit tahini and even the olive oil, but add a little more water. that is how the plant-strong/engine-2 people do it - hummus is a staple for them, and it is just as good.
Im not a fan of a strong tahini taste in hummus either, this is the recipe I use:
1 can chickpeas
1 clove garlic
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp tahini
1/2 tsp salt
lemon juice
Blend and add water as needed, to get the consistency you like. I also like to add some crushed cumin, 1/4 - 1/2 tsp. Then drizzle olive oil over it and sprinkle with papkria. If you like a very garlicy hummus, add more cloves
Add 2-3 tablespoons yogurt to your hummus recipe & it will taste & look like the stuff sold in restaurants. Good quality Olive oil & home boiled chick peas also make a ton of a difference in taste.
