Homemade Cookies: How long do they last?

I’m planning on making 6-7 different types of cookies to pass out for the holidays. For each batch there are about 40-60 cookies, depending on the type of cookie.

SO! What I would like to know is, how long ahead can I start baking? 1 week ahead? I need all batches to be fresh (obviously), as if they were made THAT day, so is that possible if storing cookies for up to a week?

I’ve read a lot about freezing cookies, but what if they get that smell? If you’ve had experience freezing cookies, do share pretty please.

omg i looove cookieees

I’ve never frozen baked cookies before but once I made the dough, cut them out in the shape i wanted and froze them. Took them out a few weeks later and put them in the oven, tasted yummy and fresh!
I’d say you can store your cookies up to a week in room temp or the fridge :hmmm:

home made cookies that i bake don’t last more than a few hours…they are THAT good!

Re: Homemade Cookies: How long do they last?

I store big batches of cookies for at least 4-5 days in an airtight container, with a slice of apple inside. Never last any longer! They stay fresh, soft and chewy. The apple really helps, but remember to replace it so its fresh. You can also prepare the dough in advance, roll it into a log shape, and then wrap tightly in a layers of wax paper and then cling wrap, and then just defrost on the day you want to bake. This way you can save time but getting the prep work done in advance. The only types of cookies Ive frozen after baking are sugar cookies [before decorating], they freeze well and stay fresh

I live in a cold country , so as long as I have kept the cookies in airtight containers , they last me for a month or so … I make loads at one time so dont have to do them every other week !

You can make the dough and freeZe it. I would bake the cookies the night before.
