Homemade Accessories

Does anybody make any hair/jewellery accessories, either from scratch or add bits on to their clothes/handbags/shoes to enhance them…Gok Wan stylee?

My sister and I used to add bits to our shoes to pimp them up, things like clip on earrings on the peeptoe part and glue on diamantes onto staps. I once bought a diamante necklace and pulled it part and added it to my sandels to pimp them up.

Last week I made fascinators with my girls at school and it was so easy to do, I thought…‘hmmm I quite like doing this’

I mean, they are by no means ‘professional’ but with the right tools, materials and equipment i’m sure it’s easy peasy.

Re: Homemade Accessories

So 67 of youse can read but none of youse can make anything or enhance anything!

UFF

Well my 5 year olds made this…

Bought the head band, sequined stuff and flowers from the pound shop.

Re: Homemade Accessories

oh oh, so couple of years back i took my mums slightly chipped brooch and pinned it on to my headband. it looked vintage, i wore it with a grey dress. but i don't have a picture of it.

oh and my really beautiful black bag, that would fit eveyrthing in it...the zip came undone and i couldn't re-do it, so i found a purple zip and purple lining, sewed it on. it looked reallllly cool.

Re: Homemade Accessories

Yea!

Finally some creativity!

Why are people so naff at sharing = caring!

Urgh to youse all! :angries:

I can’t find the silver sandals I pimped up with rick rack and iron on diamantes. :frowning:

Re: Homemade Accessories

I have a blue ribbon that i'm planning on wearing on my head like a hair band =/ Does that count? I usually don't pimp stuff, I mean i've thought about it but the lack of a hot glue gun stops me =(

Re: Homemade Accessories

You don't need a hot glue gun!

I lie, you do. I want one, but my sister won't let me get one. :(

One of my friends decorates and sells shoes (I have a pair, they are AMAZINGED!)

Another one of my friends makes and sells fascinators. She sells them at art and craft fairs.

Re: Homemade Accessories

OH YEAH. you know those plain flats with a thin bow sort of thing on top? i hate it, so i cut it off and got my mum to stick a buckle on it instead.

Re: Homemade Accessories

Visuals required.

Re: Homemade Accessories

Re: Homemade Accessories

Re: Homemade Accessories

Oh yeah! I’ve seen some of those. I don’t like the really frivolous ones too much. They look ridonkulus. I like the ones with the pretty bows :layd: Omggggg! When I went hairband shopping, I’d see some hairbands and I was like…omg I can make them myself for cheaper! If only I had a glue gun :bummer:

Re: Homemade Accessories

canadians :disgust:

Re: Homemade Accessories

That’s lovely!

I’ll post some pictures in a bit, but I have all kinds of beads and shiny thingies for my kids and we make bracelets and headbands and stuff for their friends pretty often. The girls decorated my change purse for me and it looked adorable.

Re: Homemade Accessories

Innit though! You’d think they would have learnt something from us Brits whilst we were there looking after them!

Niksik, looking forward to seeing the pics!!

My girls loved loved making the hairband fascinators, they could have had a neater finish to them, but I didnt want to over complicate it as we only had an hour to make them before our Royal Wedding picnic. Plus i’m not allowed to let 5 year olds use a glue gun…urgh!

Re: Homemade Accessories

Here’s a project she’s working on…a necklace for mommy!

A completed bracelet for big sister.

Re: Homemade Accessories

CUTE!!!

I bet they were so proud of their acheivements!

p.s loving the zip lock bag organisation.

Re: Homemade Accessories

Hahah! Thanks :D

I have to find some other accessories they made.

I think it's a neat activity, and then I have a friend who buys plain outfits for her girls and hand embroiders on them. She's made some stuff for my kids too. Will take pics and post. Unfortunately, I'm not much into sewing or embroidery.
