My mother swears by salt, soda bicarb and lemon - rubbing the mixture on the teeth. I’ve tried it a few times and my teeth feel squeaky clean, but do you guys know of any other teeth whitening treatments?

salt and soda bicarb is what I always used to clean my dogs teeth and I swear by them. My dogs had the shiniest, most sparkly teeth with the cleanest breath.

not to me, and you have to clean teeth regularly, coz we back home served them soft food and they only had plastic bones to chew on. One has to make an effort to reach in and clean their teeth and gums, not only to avoid tarter formation but also bad breath. A dog's breath in not stinky catty, you have dogs of your own.

Also, once in a while, mustard oil mixed with lots of salt. It may burn your lips but… you’d love the result.

Dentonic darkens the gums and lips, be careful of excessive use.

I use once a month or so but.... why does it darken the lips and gums???

I know of two people who got skin pigmentation around the lips by regular use of dentonic and the doctor told them that it is common with dentonic users, i dont know the exact reason.

my mom told me to soak my toothbrush in this salt, soda bicarbonate and lemon mixture overnight and then just apply any toothpaste on the brush!voila you get the sparkly teeth ever and yes I have tried it and it works!

Yeah we had dogs, and we made their food at home too, but I dont think we cleaned their teeth, and thusly they had stinky breath. Kya yaad dilla dia … I can actually hear my dogs panting now, they used to stink a lot when it rained … cant forget that smell. I miss them.

Crest Whitestrips. You buy it at the shop and then use it at home, so technically it's a home remedy.
It worked for me... when my mother visited she noticed my teeth were whiter than when she last saw me.

manjan is this kala powder thingy made of salt n god knows what else used instead of tooth paste.

catty manjan is made out of coal, its burnt wood. Nevertheless, it helps actually. It was misvak and manjan that used to help the whitening/cleansing of teeth. And one didn't visit the dentist that often either, but it was in Pakistan. As for whitening teeth, my mom always suggests mustard oil and salt or just soda by itself. Whitening strips work too as maddy dada said ;)
P.S. manjan has diff forms, depends what ppl like to add in it. Cuz some ppl use diff herbs to make manjan :)

We use dandasa (sakra), but it does leave your lips and fingertips orange coloured if you're not careful.
