I would like to know if anyone from London or anywhere in UK, has had experience with any home nursing organization?
My uncle, who is closing in on 90, is unable to look after himself very well because of his age, and my aunt herself is around 85, and unable to help much. I want to know of any good round the clock nursing care that is available for patients who wish to stay at home and not go to a nursing home. I would appreciate if anyone has an idea of the prices involved, or if the UK govt provides any support?
Hi hun… I know of Private nursing homes- a BUPA led one … offered lovely accomodation and the care is a damn sight better that some NHS hospital care- its 24 hour on call and residents have red alarm buttons in convienient areas of the room and around their necks … meals are fine and requests for halal diet can be made .. have a look at this link
Best of luck x

This link informs u of elderly people who may qualify for Income support & attendance allowance and if you qualify, your BUPA fees are reduced and you pay from these benefits.. its not much but can help **
Thanks poppies, the third link is very helpful. However, bupa seems to be about nursing homes only. I was looking for a home based nurse, which would enable my uncle to stay at his own home with my aunt.

Silaaj contact your local Council or speak to someone in Social services- I know you will have to pay for this service and also I think you need to have a "case" for you requesting this. Hope it works out for u x

Appreciate any help.
the council is not much help nowadays.i tried to get some help for my parents in similar situation but no luck.they r cutting back on services to the elderly. best thing would be to get private help. make sure u get muslim help cos there is a lot of abuse of elderly . i placed an ad on muslim-ads.co.uk but did not find anyone suitable yet.
or speak to the local councilor directly.sometimes they can be helpful.i know brent has a better reputation.where r ur parents located?
