Home Microdermabarasion Kits

I’m assuming they’re not like what you might get done at a doc’s office or whatever, but how good are they? Which ones are better than the other one? I need to fix acne scars, so how long didya wait to get it done?

Re: Home Microdermabarasion Kits

Re: Home Microdermabarasion Kits

I am trying lancome micro...and it has literally transformed my skin. It is expensive...the only thing is that it may react to some skin types and give you acne in the begining...but once you start using it regularly it should clean up your face....i was fortunate that I didn't get any pimples.
Also if you have oily skin, make sure you are using right moisturizer at night and in day time. Try derm lines like La roche posay or Vichy.

Re: Home Microdermabarasion Kits

tweety as far as i know you should you use it when you don't have acne. that's why i asked how long after their acne slowed down did they go and get it. =/

jal_pari: thanks for the info. how often do you do it, and how long have you been doing it? is it like some kind of intense scrub?

Re: Home Microdermabarasion Kits

I use it twice a week and been using it for a month. Yes it is intensive scrub...if your skin is already used to of using daily exfoliators(dove, neutrigina etc), it shouldn't be a big change. If you have never used scrubs and exfoliators on your face then I would suggest start by using those mild exfoliators first.

Re: Home Microdermabarasion Kits

I bought the Neutrogena Body Microderm Kit. I used it for a grand total of 2 times cuz wanted to try elsewhere before my face :D Anyway I'm just lazy but the immediate results are very soft/polished skin. Can't say much about long term b/c I haven't used it for long enough.

Re: Home Microdermabarasion Kits

A very competent dermatologist told me that there is no perfect treatment for the acne scars...:| Certain treatments can help them to some extent, but it is impossible to get rid of them completely...:(

Anybody who has got the acne scars treated? I've met none so far...:(

Re: Home Microdermabarasion Kits

hey everyone! loreal microderabrasion is simply amazing. it was recommended by my derm. im using retinoids for acne hence i've been as asked to use the kit only twice a week. if u aint under any ance treatment then use it thrice a week.

Re: Home Microdermabarasion Kits

What about the one by oil of olay (not my fav brand) but
it seems so promising :D in their ads and is easy to use.

Has anyone tried it?

Re: Home Microdermabarasion Kits

i read somewhere that there are 2 kinds of scars, ones that sink in, and the other type is that ones that are bumpy and stuff. one is because collagen is gone from that place, and in the other case there are too much collagen. now here is the confusing bit, some say micro is better for the ones that are bumpy, and not so well for the scars that are skinny. at the same time, others are saying that micro is good enough for the sunken scars.

my cousin went on a couple of sessions of micro before her wedding. she said it really reduced the scars for her. if she had completed the course or whatever, her skin would be smoother.

ps i'm looking for something more affordable, and it's gotta be used by 2 different people too, so i was looking at the neutrogena and the l'oreal one. so any other recommendations would really help.

Re: Home Microdermabarasion Kits

My scars are the type which can't really be treated :(, and as for the example of the cousin you mentioned, I also have a friend who went for microdermabrasion treatment, BUT the case is the same with her, the scars got reduced to some extent, but they are still there, even though she got the treatment completed, unlike your cousin...so this is what I've been noticing...:| People do get some benefit out of these treatments, but they aren't able to get rid of the scars completely...now she is going to go for the laser treatment, lets hope it proves effective, because then I'd be the next in line:D.

Re: Home Microdermabarasion Kits

well her scars weren't like terribly deep so no wonder one or two sessions really worked out for her :p i think she went to that haroon doc too that someone mentioned in another thread. can't remember :o

i just want my skin to be a bit more nicer :(

Re: Home Microdermabarasion Kits

That someone is ME:D, and the "competent dermatologist" I mentioned above is the same one...:D Most of my scars aren't "terribly" deep either, but still he said that these treatments won't really help me...:|

Checking out www.acne.org right now to see if anything has really helped anyone regarding this problem...lets wish the best of luck to everyone with this problem! :)

Re: Home Microdermabarasion Kits

^^ neutrogena and l’oreal have the same reviews. but it says it’s bad for oily skin. now i’m more confused than ever if i should get it ornot :bummer:
