It is a wonder to me that more women living abroad don’t use their skills in making clothes and running small businesses from their home?
Do you guys know anyone who truly designs and makes their own shalwaar kameez’s from their own home?
I’m not talking about ladies who send for clothes made from karigars in pakistan and then make them here.
I’m not talking about bhara-hua kaam walay suits. Just even plain simple suits that you can wear at home or at a lunch or something. Reasonably price and locally sold?
It’s a gold-mine of an idea, because so many people don’t go back to Pakistan and there is a large market for it as long as the clothes are reasonably priced…
Re: Home-Made Shalwaar Kameez
I've been meaning to learn. If my aunt coming to visit this holiday season is willing to teach me, I'll pass on what I know to you. I am cleaning out my closets and the biggest reason why I don't wear shalwaar kameez anymore is because I don't have any new ones to wear!!!
Re: Home-Made Shalwaar Kameez
My mom sews clothes. She does it very well. Her mother taught her. She's made simple cotton ones for me in the summer and a lil fancy ones as well. Even when i get ready mades from pakistan and they're too lose or what not, she fixes them very well. My sister in law and i talked about opening our own little shop because there are no Pakistani clothing stores. By pakistani, i mean there are indian ones but i just dont prefer their type of clothing. And it's very pricey, beyond reason. So yes, my mom sews them very well, she's done some tailoring for aunties here back in the 90's and it was usually $20 for kameez and $20 for shelwar. But times have changed and she never really did it for the money, but when people just continue bringing clothes, you have to charge:)
Re: Home-Made Shalwaar Kameez
*my aunty used to make her own shalwaar kameez's and she even created her own fashion show when she was in college modelling them. unfortunetly she had to get married n it was the end for her :(! altho my dad has made me a few suits here n there as he used to make leather jackets.. *
