Home-made lotion

I just made myself a batch of this.

Glycerin / almond oil / olive oil
Rose water
Lemon

I use equal parts oil and lemon and 3/4 rose water. My family has used this for as long as I can remember. Rose water is a great toner. The oils don’t clog my pores. And isn’t lemon good for the complexion and as a lightener? This stings if you have broken skin though. Keep in the fridge, it’s yummy on your skin when cold.

Re: Home-made lotion

this is used in our family too.....:)

but i'm quite lazy when it comes to personal care ....i use olive oil all the time

Re: Home-made lotion

Afia yeah, same here. I'm mostly too lazy to make this. I just use rose water (although I have now run out of it :( ) and then just use olive oil or almond oil all over my body. This stuff makes the skin so soft though!!!

My family used to make this in the winter in Pakistan when it got really dry. Otherwise the summers were so humid that I don't remember anyone using moisturizer although my dadi would put butter and milk on her hands!

Re: Home-made lotion

Hmmm, interesting. You just mix it together and use it right away? Do you have to let it settle? Put it in the fridge or something?

I may try this. Thanks for posting it Sarah.

Re: Home-made lotion

Mehnaz, I only make small amounts at a time because I am not sure how long it keeps in the fridge. But it's so easy to make that it doesn't matter if it runs out in a few days anyway. And yeah, just shake before using. If you do make this, use fresh lemons. I hope you like it! :)

By the way, speaking of olive oil you posted in an old thread of mine about the hot oil treatment using olive oil. How is your hair now? I got the Neutrogena triple moisture shampoo, it's sooo good (so far).

Re: Home-made lotion

hey!

is this just a general moisturiser which you use on a daily basis? is it any good for getting rid of spots??

whats this hot oil treatment for your hair using olive oil? is it home made?
