Do you give yourself a facial? If so, what products do you use and how often to you do one?
Re: Home Facials
I did a very haphazard facial a while back. Just utilized whatever I could get my hands on, and the end result was less than glowing obviously.
Do you have any recommendations for homemade masks etc? :(
Re: Home Facials
I regularly do home facials, i start with Clinique 7 day scrub
1. leave it on for a minute then massage lightly for about a minute and than rinse off.
2. massage with Shiseido massage cream for about 10 minutes.
3. clear black heads
4. Wash with Diorsnow purifying foam
5. apply Boots intensive moisturising mask and massage for about 2 minutes
6. rinse off
7. Put shiseido Hydrating mask, leave it for about 20 minutes while relaxing.
I try to do it every week, or every second second week.
Re: Home Facials
Cont. what kind of skin do you have?
Re: Home Facials
Do you mean from home ingredients or store bought stuff at home. For home ingredients i usually use an olive oil mask 1/2 times every week depending how busy i am and 1 or less times a week i use a mud mask i have very dry skin and it seems to be working very well for me.
Re: Home Facials
i think i have this everyday scrub from clean and clears which i dont use everyday.

I think I have a combination skin. Oily T-zone.
Re: Home Facials
I actually meant how many of you take out time to give yourselves a proper facial. Cleansing, scrub, steam, massage, mask (and extracting blackheads).
Cont. 1 tablespoon oatmeal powder, 1/2 tsp honey and just enough milk to make a paste, leave it on for 1/2 an hour.

Thanks. I'll try that. So all together the whole facial should take longer than 1 hour. For me personally, steaming is the only thing that makes skin looks somewhat clean and glowy for all of five seconds.
Is facial really worth the time and effort?
ps.I have only done it maybe twice myself in as many years and thrice from parlour in my lifetime. Yes I am lame.

Wow all those steps in 1 go might be harsh on the skin esp since i have dry sensitive skin but i cleanse my face 2/3 times a week, use a scrub 1 or less a week (more in winter), steam never, massage 2 times a day (i like massaging lol) and mask rarely whenever i feel like i need it but i have began using masks more often now like olive oil and mud masks so i guess around twice a wk? So how about you?
Re: Home Facials
If you use products meant for your skin-type they aren't harsh at all. I do a home facial once every 3 weeks and I do see a difference, prior to doing a facial I bleach as well.

Trust me its too harsh if you do all those steps in one go rather than spread out over say a week. As for bleaching dont you think thats reversing all the good of the facial as its harmful for the skin?
Re: Home Facials
Gina.. how good is bleaching? I am just too skeptic about it, I never touched it in my lifetime. My perception was that, it is baasically to colour your facial hair blonde. But the lady at the salon is asking me to have it done to brighten up my arms.

If you've 'opened' your pores by steaming you can't apply your mask the next day, If you've cleansed your skin really well to extract dirt/grime from your pores you must exfoliate and can't do it another day. These steps were formed just as the basic skin-care routine CTM (cleansing, toning, moisturizing). It's completely safe if you're using products according to your skin-type and this is why facials are done once every 3-4 weeks.
If you apply a moisturizer before you bleach the bleach doesn't harm your skin as it acts as a 'barrier' and only the hair becomes lighter.
jalp, if you're waxing your arms why does she want you to bleach them, in Pakistan when they mention anything to do with 'brightening' they usually use what they call a 'polisher' that is VERY harsh for your skin and may cause a reaction. If you use a good moisturizer before you bleach, mix a mild bleach (do a patch test first to make sure you don't have a reaction) and leave it on for no more than 5 mins. wash it off and spray chilled rosewater and follow-up with a 'calming' mask such as honey or aloe vera.
