So I am all set for Eid, we are going to an Uncles house for a feast and their wedding anniversary celebration. I’ll bring something nice and we will have a lovely time.
THANKSGIVING though! My goodness I think I’m insane…since my nephew came over for college and my neice is recently married and moved here, we decided to host a HUGE thanksgiving. I’ll make a traditional American Turkey feast - all the trimmings (9 dishes and various sides) for 40 people in our rather small house!!!
Ive started shopping and planning, I’m nervous about it lol! But so far I got all the warming trays and sternos, plates and utensils. Its gonna be pretty crazy but I’m also really excited about it - I just hope everything turns out ok.
One thing thats going to be kinda funny…the majority of our guests are Desi and of course, they will bring trays of food too. I dont think they realize the vastness of the Thanksgiving feast. Should I say something to them or just let it go? It would be nice I think to have them experience the whole american feast thing but if theres also lots of desi food (as delectable as it is), it doesnt really go, know what I mean?
Your feast sounds like fun. Definitely ask the guests not to bring any food, just say u have gone to great lengths to prepare this special fare and u want them to experience this special american stuff, so please bring some drinks but NOT food, thank you very much.
Sure why not?!! Everyone else seems to be coming lol!!
The sternos are little cans of gelled fuel, you pop the top and light it like a candle then use them to keep the food warm...I got the metal stands that hold those big foil trays. the sterno goes underneath then you put a couple inches of water in the big foil trays and then a shallower foil pan for food on top of the water pan. We'll be eating probably all day long - some guests will arrive early, some later on so its going to be more of a buffet type of party than a sit down dinner.
