If that’s the case then people might as well keep their kids from attending the Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah classroom parties at school. If exchanging gifts is a big deal, then why be a part of the celebration overall?
Giving holiday presents in my opinion, is a way of showing tolerance and acceptance of their religion [it doesn’t mean you’re converting]. It just means being part of someone’s happiness on a humanitarian level. Plus, it helps blend your child in so that he/she doesn’t feel isolated when the rest of the class brings in gifts for the teacher.
